The domestic bliss of Detective Inspector Rowan Jackman, of Fenland Constabulary, doesn’t last long. His old nemesis, serial killer Alistair Ashcroft, is back in town and ready to tidy up unfinished business. Ashcroft sends a sinister text to DS Marie Evans. His opening move in what will prove to be a lethal game of cat-and-mouse. Yet for all his taunts, where is he? In a county crawling with police on the look-out for him, Ashcroft is nowhere to be found. Everyone Jackman cares about is in danger. Alongside the hunt for Ashcroft, however, normal police work must continue.

The Ghost on the team
Revisado: 02-02-23
Thank you Joy Ellis and Richard Armitage. Richard, I commend you for completely fooling me into thinking that I knew who the characters were by their voice. I had to completely convince myself that one person was all of them.
Joy, I have just discovered you. I had already prepared myself for the acceptance that I had become a fan of this new adult "Nancy Drew" club, when Jacobs dream came true...that was the "frosting on the cake" it was predictable but since it gave me that warm "ND" (innocent and youthful) feeling, it was gladly acceptable. Perspective, "I am reporting for duty, I have been transferred-in and I am ready to train as part of the team.

The caricature (both performance and descriptive) warmed my heart like family. At one point I heard myself say "I love this man" and I meant it. I will immediately go look for another audiobook in this series if there yone.👍

But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Pleasantly Drained
Revisado: 02-08-21
The word "drained" usually has a negative connotation but in this review I mean it as positive. This is my third audio book by Kristin Hannah, "Nightingale", "The Great Alone" and this one. Emotional drainage through the struggle is real, that's a compliment. I cry, chuckle, feel and think the book. The discriptive details cause me to "really be there" in my mind and emotion. This, credits both the artistic author and the narrator. The surprise interview at the end complimented it all so well that I wanted to be both the author and the narrator myself. I allowed myself to wander through both of those adventures, wishing I knew how. That is where this audiobook has taken me. Thank you Kristen and Julia.

The Most Wonderful Lisp I've Ever Heard
Revisado: 12-11-20
As a unique orphaned then single mother of six basically an abnormal normal citizen of the United States with no political interest at all, I appreciate being able to hear the VOICE and hear the THOUGHTS of our unique and abnormal normal former president. What a privilege! A personal vision into politics first-hand and at such trying times as this with the pandemic and the unbelievable presidency of the tyrant Donald Trump. I cannot even put the word "president' in front of that name without cringing, likewise i have a hard time putting the word "former" in front of President Barack Obama.
I do not remember ever hearing about Obama's lisp but it felt so special to notice it on my own in this book - since at the age of 72 I have a hearing problem and only noticed it because as I read my books with my ears (thanks to Audible) through a bluetooth headset (BTW I also see/read the TV through the captions). I feel very special, even if it is well known by others - I didn't know. I am special and this book is inspiration.

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

Understand more the Dynamics "Up There" and W-Wide
Revisado: 07-21-20
Surprised that I was able to get through it since I have not much been drawn to history or politics...until now. Flabbergasted in the "not understanding" of how we could allow (what is making) history to be representative of our America and the free world is likely the culprit in getting me through it. Admittedly, following the names of many of the diplomats, as such, left my head spinning, but I'm proudly closer to comprehension.
I'm glad I read this book, I feel that I am more able to understand the roles and strategies behind things I could not even think I could put together. It makes me feel a little empowered.
I guess I can say a very, very small smidgen of respect (not early on but later) for Trump (for at least giving the small appearance of trying) might have surprisingly snuck into me. He is no where near presidential material, but he might be trying to at least play that role. I would only have believed it after reading this book.
Now, John Bolton and the narrator Robert Petkoff, good job! I think John actually ran the country, kind of like some first lady's do - but much better, especially logistically.
After reading Mary Trump's book, then this one, my insight is growing. All is good.

Historia
The sand-blasted world of Arrakis has become green, watered, and fertile. Old Paul Atreides, who led the desert Fremen to political and religious domination of the galaxy, is gone. But for the children of Dune, the very blossoming of their land contains the seeds of its own destruction. The altered climate is destroying the giant sandworms, and this in turn is disastrous for the planet's economy.

SUCH DETAILS OF ANOTHER WORLD THAT I AM THERE
Revisado: 07-16-20
I will have to go back to leave reviews for the previous books in the Dune series of which I have neglected. I am so enthralled in this world and it's language that it is difficult to come back to earth. I do not know how the author (especially from so long ago) was able to to imagine all of this with a completely new language with such unique names and places. I love the journey. Thank you. I put my timer on at night and love falling to sleep to the "spice" of the narration. I may be addicted.

RIGHT ON!
Revisado: 07-15-20
I read this book in one day after checking every day to see if it was yet available. I saved my credit until it arrived.
No disappointment, couldn't put it down.
Mary, you did a wonderful job depicting exactly what I see happens to life around the people with personal characteristic traits of people like Donald Trump. It is unbelievable that others follow them and agree with them. I am always flabbergasted that it happens. I have attributed my seeing it to the fact that I never had a man in my family, thus, didn't understand, that, predominantly male attitude. It is good to hear the validation of the cause and effect and unfortunate results. Having been married to a man like Trump, and knowing other "Trump-like" people, I had to laugh when you mentioned that he would not even associate himself (not exact words) with the people who follow him. Again, I agree, he would look down on them - for the fact that they followed him. I have nothing negative to say about this book except "right on"!
