Resumen del Editor
Meanwhile, journalist Stephen Singular took on the task of infiltrating the police department crime lab in search of the truth. What he discovered earned him a starring role on the glittery defense team as he outlined for them a means of proving that the defendant's blood actually could have been planted at the crime scene. With this demonstration as a springboard, the defense scored a victory that astonished the entire world. But had a renegade cop actually planted the blood or not?
In Legacy of Deception, Stephen Singular disassembles the wall of deception constructed by the L.A.P.D. to reveal a scenario far more sinister than anything that emerged in the course of the trial chilling proof that true innocence was rare or nonexistent in this nightmarish case.

The police in Jersey County, Illinois, accepted Paula Sims' story of a masked kidnapper who snatched her baby girl, Lorelei, from her bassinet. Three years later, her second newborn daughter suffered an identical fate - and this time the police were unable to stop searching until they had discovered the whole horrifying truth. From the outside, the prosecution's case looked bulletproof, but Marcia Clark knew better. Mountains of physical evidence connected O. J. Simpson to the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, but that didn't mean it would be easy. For the woman charged with prosecuting the "Trial of the Century", the light of fame would glow white hot, as the media scrutinized her strategy, her family, even her hair. As the case spun out of control, Marcia Clark stood tall.

For O.J. Simpson to get away with murder, an innocent cop, a brilliant detective, had to be destroyed. That was the cynical strategy of the Simpson defense. But as certainty about Simpson's guilt grew, so did the outrage about the scapegoating of Mark Fuhrman. Now the former LAPD detective tells his side of the story in a damning expose.

In 1984, John Thompson was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of a prominent white man in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was sent to Angola Prison and confined to his cell for 23 hours a day. However, Thompson adamantly proclaimed his innocence and just needed lawyers who believed that his trial had been mishandled and would step up to the plate against the powerful DA’s office. But who would fight for Thompson’s innocence when he didn’t have an alibi for the night of the murder and there were two key witnesses to confirm his guilt?

Historia
The facts are brutally straightforward. On December 6, 1991, the naked, bound and gagged bodies of four girls - each one shot in the head - were found in an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt! shop in Austin, Texas. Grief, shock, and horror spread out from their families and friends to overtake the city itself. Though all branches of law enforcement were brought to bear, the investigation was often misdirected, and after eight years only two men (then teenagers) were tried.

The horrific 1988 murder of four-year-old Barbara Jean Horn shocked the citizens of Philadelphia. Plucked from her own front yard, Barbara Jean was found dead less than two and a half hours later in a cardboard TV box dragged to a nearby street curb. After months of investigation with no strong leads, the case went cold. Four years later it was reopened, and Walter Ogrod, a young man with autism spectrum disorder who had lived across the street from the family at the time of the murder, was brought in as a suspect.

Historia
What went wrong in the O.J. Simpson double-murder trial? Former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi dares to lay bare the bungling he perceived in the case. Incriminating evidence was never presented and lapses in strategy left prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden at a disadvantage. These are just a few of the fatal errors that led to a victory for the defense.

Historia
Not since The Thin Blue Line has there been a true-crime saga as engrossing as Making a Murderer. Captivating audiences across demographic lines, it made Steven Avery a household name and thrust defense attorney Jerome F. Buting - and his fight against America's dysfunctional criminal justice system - into the spotlight. In Illusion of Justice, Buting uses the Avery case as a springboard to examine the shaky integrity of our law enforcement and legal systems, which he has witnessed firsthand for nearly four decades.

“Free the West Memphis Three!” - maybe you’ve heard the phrase, but do you know why their story is so alarming? Do you know the facts? The guilty verdicts handed out to three Arkansas teens in a horrific capital murder case were popular in their home state - even upheld on appeal. But after two HBO documentaries called attention to the witch-hunt atmosphere at the trials, artists and other supporters raised concerns about the accompanying lack of evidence.

Almost 50 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his murder continues to haunt the American psyche and stands as a turning point in our nation’s history. The Warren Commission rushed out its report in 1964, but questions continue to linger: Was there a conspiracy? Was there a coup at the highest levels of government? Historia
In the summer of 1937, a California crime stunned an already grim nation. Three little girls were lured away from a neighborhood park to unthinkable deaths. After a frantic week-long manhunt for the killer, a suspect emerged. Justice was swift, and the condemned man was buried away with the horrifying story. But decades later, Pamela Everett, a lawyer and former journalist, starts digging, following up a cryptic comment her father once made about losing two of his sisters. Everett unearths a truly historic legal case that included the genesis of modern sex offender laws and the last man sentenced to hang in California.

Surprisingly good.
I listened to this all the way through in 1 day. It is very interesting. I want to interject thought since the thought of Rodney King was interjected by the author. Before Rodney King's trial, there was a young girl who was going to buy something in a Korean store. She got angry, put the item on the counter, turned and walked away and was shot in the back. The Korean lady was acquitted. So it was not that Mr. King did not get justice, it was the culmination of injustices in cases that seemed to be slam dunks, but turned out to be jaw dropping miscarriages of justice. Thus, my favorite person in the book is the informer. Excellent.

A rare experience
Where does Legacy of Deception rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Too much deep information.
Any additional comments?
It is the rare book that can make me change a long-held opinion. But I am definitely re-thinking the OJ case. He's a creepy person, but he was and continues to be prosecuted by the media. Stephen Singular is a superb journalist, and I'm glad that I listened to the Audible version rather than reading the book. His voice really adds to the experience.

Pretty weak
All this guy wants is to create enough material to write a book all along . Ignored all the evidence identifying OJ. No wonder so many people told him to take a hike .
