Resumen del Editor
Ex-NFL player, gentleman scholar, and Fox Sports personality Marcellus Wiley sucks you into a world of inner-city violence, Ivy League intrigue, and pro-football escapades that's one part touching, one part hilarious, and all parts impossible to put down.
Marcellus Wiley has never had a problem expressing his opinion, whether it was growing up in Compton with a football tucked under his arm, or going to college at Columbia University, where he learned to survive Advanced Calculus and self-important pseudo-intellectuals. Or making it to the NFL against all odds, where he put together a 10-year career of massive paydays, massive painkillers, and massive sacks of everyone from Steve Young to Peyton Manning.
Now, in Never Shut Up, Fox Sports' hottest rising persona doesn't hold back as he goes off on everything that's controversial with the game today, from concussions to political protests to inherent violence that's worse than the hood he grew up in. Not because he hates football, but because he wants to save it.
Marcellus has never held back, even when a lot of people wanted him to. Now, he's letting it all hang out - right there in this audiobook. Way more than just another book about the latest NFL scandals, this warm, moving, and genuinely funny story of awkward transitions, family loyalty, fame, fortune, and failure will make you fall in love with Marcellus - and football - all over again.
In Never Shut Up, Marcellus will take you on a truly unique journey from Crenshaw to Broadway to the Buffalo Bills and back again, sometimes making you laugh, sometimes making you cry, but always leaving you entertained.

Terry Crews spent decades cultivating his bodybuilder physique and bravado. On the outside, he seemed invincible: he escaped his abusive father, went pro in the NFL, and broke into the glamorous world of Hollywood. But his fixation with appearing outwardly tough eventually turned into an exhausting performance in which repressing his emotions let them get the better of him—leading him into addiction and threatening the most important relationships in his life. Now Crews is sharing the raw, never-before-told story of his quest to find the true meaning of toughness.

Fat Joe is a hip-hop legend, but this is not a tale of celebrity; it is the story of Joseph Cartagena, a kid who came of age in the South Bronx during its darkest years of drugs, violence, and abandonment, and how he navigated that traumatizing landscape until he found—through art, friendship, luck, and will—a rocky path to a different life. This memoir, written in Joe’s own intensely compelling voice, moves with the momentum of pulp fiction, but underneath the tragicomedy and riveting tales of the streets and the industry is a thought-provoking story about a generation of survivors.

Stephen A. Smith has never been handed anything, nor was he an overnight success. Growing up poor in Queens, the son of Caribbean immigrants and the youngest of six children, he was a sports-obsessed kid who faced struggles, from undiagnosed dyslexia to getting enough cereal to fill his bowl. As a basketball player at Winston-Salem State University, he got a glimmer of his true calling when he wrote a newspaper column arguing for the retirement of his own Hall of Fame coach, Clarence Gaines.

That random meeting might seem like the lucky break that changed Paul’s life. But a moment of good fortune means nothing without the struggle that gets you there. And the truth is, Paul had always been lucky.

Each week, fans tuned in to Monday Nitro, flocked to sold-out arenas, and carried home truckloads of WCW merchandise. Sting, Bill Goldberg, and the New World Order were household names. Superstars like Dennis Rodman and KISS jumped on the WCW bandwagon. It seemed the company could do no wrong.

Scottie Pippen has been called one of the greatest NBA players for good reason. Simply put, without Pippen, there are no championship banners - let alone six - hanging from the United Center rafters. There’s no Last Dance documentary. There’s no “Michael Jordan” as we know him. The 1990s Chicago Bulls teams would not exist as we know them. So how did the youngest of 12 go from growing up poor in the small town of Hamburg, Arkansas, enduring two family tragedies along the way, to become a revered NBA legend?

Historia
Eric Dickerson is the greatest player in Los Angeles Rams history and the NFL’s single-season record holder for most rushing yards. In 2019, Dickerson was named to the National Football League’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. With an elegant upright running style that produced some of football’s most-watched highlights, it was said he was so smooth you couldn’t hear his pads clack as he glided past you. But during his Hall of Fame career, his greatness was often overshadowed by his contentious disputes with Rams management about his contract.

“An effective sports memoir, inspiring, good-natured, and sometimes rueful.” (Kirkus)

Raised in this environment by a single mom (his dad left him at the young age of three to reside in the Ohio State Penitentiary), Cody grew up fighting, and he grew up wild. His future seemed predestined to end in the coal mines or in prison. Thankfully, Cody had visions of something more. His American dream? Mixed martial arts.

And, of course, why next year will be the year the New York Knicks win the championship. This book is a series of rants - some controversial, some affectionate, but all incredibly hilarious.

Jalen Rose has never been quiet. Not as a kid growing up in Detroit in the '70s and '80s. Not as the brash, trash-talking leader of the legendary "Fab Five" at the University of Michigan. Not as the player under the stewardship of Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, and others throughout his 13-year NBA career. And certainly not as a commentator and analyst on ABC/ESPN and Grantland.

Historia
Nate Jackson’s Slow Getting Up is an unvarnished and uncensored memoir of everyday life in the most popular sports league in America - and the most damaging to its players - the National Football League. After playing college ball at a tiny Division III school, Jackson, a receiver, signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers, before moving to the Denver Broncos. For six seasons in the NFL as a Bronco, he alternated between the practice squad and the active roster, eventually winning a starting spot - a short, tenuous career emblematic of the average pro player.

Never Shut Up‼️The Audible is Bomb💫
Never Shut Up by Marcelles Wiley is a must read but the audible version is exceptionally entertaining‼️ Marcellus is Raw Real and Hilarious... my son and I listened to Never Shut Up on the way to school and basketball practice... we had a ball while sitting in traffic; sometimes sitting in the car to finish listening to the end of chapter once we were home‼️
As a former athlete and a single mom I found it to be insightful as well as an excellent bonding experience with my son as he’s growing into a young black man.
Wiley’s honesty and colorful narrative style are identifiable to all races & ages especially our younger generation that is interested in becoming professional athletes.
It is refreshing to hear a former NFL Player who has become just as successful in the media candidly talk about his experiences in life, college, and the NFL who focuses on the importance of Education and getting a college degree.
I strongly recommend Never Shut Up for all young athlete’s...the Audible is inspirational, funny and an extremely exciting listening experience ‼️

Mandatory read for the high school athlete
May the universe continue to bless Marcellus Wiley in all his endeavors. As a high school career and financial management teacher, huge advocate for the necessity of social-emotional growth of all teens, believer in life-long learning and former member of the broadcasting community, this message is one that I hope to share with so many.

Well the story was good.
This would have been a great book. Using F bombs to tell your story is bit much. I appreciate where you are coming from, what you over came and the success you made for self. But dude it seemed like there was a f bomb in every paragraph.

Good and humble man
Mr. Wiley is a good man, that was my biggest take from the book. I loved his humor and his ability to be vulnerable at times. He made mistakes as we all do. But he is and was always in a state of becoming a better person. Wiley gives an amazing vibe on the importance of family. The state of the family is in decline in America in so many ways today. I wish the book had even more to say, more life details but then again Mr. Wiley is still a young man and will go on to do many more things in life. I enjoyed the intellectual honest in the book, no tribal preaching as is the norm of today, just an honest human evaluation of each circumstance. Mr. Wiley also holds himself accountable at all times, I really appreciated that. A good book by a good man
