This was my first foray into the LitRPG genre and I was very skeptical at first but ended up absolutely loving it! 10/10 would recommend this book!

I wish they had chosen a narrator with a little more vocal range. the narration was very good overall, however the attempts for deep voices characters were a little lackluster. That's not a big issue overall and I would recommend this audiobook!

Average story, but not up to Erickson's prose

I appreciate having more books within the Malazan universe and if I had only ever read Esslemont before I would have liked this more. Unfortunately few can match Steven Erickson's level of prose, so it's a little bit of a let down to get Malazan content at sub-Erickson prose.

The narrator did a decent job. Not the worst, not the best.

Overall I would give a cautious recommendation to any Malazan fans looking for more in the Malazan universe but would hesitate to recommend it if you are not already invested in the universe.

I just finished book 5 and the ending was so repugnant that I regret ever starting this series. seriously, I have even gone so far as to request refunds on all of the books. I would HIGHLY caution anyone from starting this series, as books 1-4 were quite captivating and book 5 so awful. You may very well finish with the taste of bile in your mouth as I currently do.

I thought the story to be engaging, however I missed reading beforehand that the entire point of view was in first person. I didn't love the narrator's voices used for several characters: Arlin and the king's general whose name I forget were both exceptionally irksome.

Jeff Harding's narration perfectly matches the characters that Nick Eames has created! definitely in my top 10 favorites!

Book: I didn't love the setting and I felt like the author could have done more worldbuilding. The characters all felt a little flat and Ka-Poel (really?? when looking up the spelling I had no idea there was an "L" in her name from the reading) was the character who I felt had the most intrigue. I'm not sure whether that should impress you or leave you suspect, as she is the only character who is completely mute! I would have appreciated more character backstory and development.

Narration: I liked the reading for about 30 minutes, however it soon became evident that the narrator's favorite vocal trick is to simply add grit to nearly every character. He really excels at the gritty voice but that made me like the characters even less since they all sounded similar.

I'm glad Audible let's you listen worry free by offering free exchanges. I would have been turned off by all the negative comments (that I now agree with) and wouldn't have given this a shot.

I do have friends who loved the story and narration, so don't be overly concerned about negative reviews. My advice: try it and return it if you're not happy like I will be doing.

Story was the shortest of the trilogy and not very complex and predictable. I wish this was only half a credit instead of a full one. Narrator has been annoying all trilogy with her strange pronunciations and irritating voices. Maybe do the Kindle version on this trilogy and save your credits for something of higher value.
