Story
As an anti-social art major perpetually at risk of dropping out, college life wasn't a great fit for Momo. When she wakes up one morning in a dark cavern full of sentient skeletons and oddball introverts who call themselves necromancers, she knows a new era of her life is about to start. Chosen for her meek and harmless personality, she is able to exist under the radar as she completes the Dawn's necromantic missions. Watch her as she gains confidence (and class levels), and reluctantly rises from meager apprentice to self-assured queen of the underworld.

really enjoyable character writing, entertaining magic system, though I would have enjoyed a bit more explanation into it. definitely a character forward story, world building has been limited but enjoyable and fun.

Story
Does a bear shift in the woods? Well, partially. That was what got grizzly-shifter Ted Farnsworth into trouble. He wasn’t trying to break the Secrecy Pact. He just wants people to see the real him. So he signs up with the mate-matching service Supernatural Selection - which guarantees marriage to a perfect partner. Not only will Ted never be lonely again, but once his new beaver-shifter husband arrives, they’ll build Ted’s dream wilderness retreat together. Win-win.

This is an adorably fun romp through a surprisingly well-built world. I didn't expect the high quality world building, and back stories. the characters were super engaging, well written, and had great personalities. I also loved that multiple story hooks were left open, it leaves you with a feeling of completion, but you still have plenty to think about later.

The one thing you never talk about while you’re in the Scholomance is what you’ll do when you get out. Not even the richest enclaver would tempt fate that way. But it’s all we dream about: the hideously slim chance we’ll survive to make it out the gates and improbably find ourselves with a life ahead of us, a life outside the Scholomance halls. And now the impossible dream has come true. I’m out, we’re all out. We saved everyone. So much for my great-grandmother’s prophecy of doom and destruction. Ha, only joking! Actually, it’s gone all wrong.

a delightful finish to a great trilogy. I honestly can't recommend this series enough. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll avoid specifics. it's was a thrill from start to finish, with multiple compelling villains, excellent character development, and every subplot tying beautifully into the main storyline.

This was such a joy from start to finish. it managed to keep being exciting and suspenseful while being super wholesome. The characters all kept distinct personalities, which was great with such a big cast. I really loved this book and want this to become a full series. I can't recommend this enough.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city's ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Nothing has gone right for Conryu Koda since learning he's a wizard. On his first day at The North American Alliance's Arcane Academy he's greeted by protestors and pelted with tomatoes. On the second day he nearly dies in a magical ritual. It's all downhill from there. With enemies around every corner, not to mention a crazy professor, will Conryu even make it to winter break?

decent narration, underwhelming book
Reviewed: 12-17-20
The highlight of this book is the magic system, which is interesting, though not wholly unique. The plot lacks tension and stakes, the main character does little other than comment on the physique of every woman he comes in contact with. The concept of " reverse sexism " could be interesting if the actual blatant sexism of the main character wasn't constantly on display. I wish i hadn't spent the credit. The narration isn't bad, though It's nothing worth getting excited over.

The name's Torres, Bonnie Torres, and I'm a paranormal scene investigator - rooting out the truth about crimes of magic. It's dangerous and boring and scary and fascinating. Though not everyone in the Cosa Nostradamus is happy we're around, which can make things…tricky. Working two cases - looking into a murder for the NYPD, and a rich man's break-in - should be well within our abilities. But when things start getting weird in the Electric Apple, Private Unaffiliated Paranormal Investigations is stretched to the limits, trying to keep one step ahead and out of trouble.

mediocre narration for a bad story

the worldbuilding was decent but the characters were forgettable and the story predictable. I literally can't remember a single character name or personality trait. The plot was boring for 95 percent of the book and the ending was unsatisfying. The world could have been enjoyable if it had been given to writer that had skill.

I feel like this world had such potential, which is the only reason i made it through the book. After 10 hours of listening i feel like i made it through a chapter, not a full story. The " twists" were obvious from chapter one, the climax had no emotional weight, and the characters were nothing more than bland stereotypes.
Spoilers below.
It was obvious from the start that Dustin would be betrayed by his boss, and that she was using his lack of family to manipulate him. The two "hands" ( aka enforcers ) in the story were Tough Mean Guy and Strong Nice Girl. No depth to them at all. Harold may have had potential but was essentially a nerd character there for plot points. The final battle with freya had no weight to it and felt boring.
