Story
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Best book I ever read
Reviewed: 11-09-23
I bought this book when it first came out and never touched it. After I found that it was rated as one of the best of the year , I thought I'd better check it out. I started it and let if go for a bit, it seemed too strange.
But I picked it up again and Im so glad I did. It is a wonderful book. In so many ways it would take too much space to say. It is a life affirming tale of gaining innocence and losing it and regaining it forever.(I hope). I deeply hope for a sequel. and want to follow Sussana Clarke as an author (that is what I was trying unsucessfully to do) when I got this review thing.. So heres my review along with a request to FOLLOW Susanna Clarke. Thanks Joan Wysong
PS Ive listened to it 5 times and never cease to find something new in it.

Story
Gerald Dickens, great, great grandson of Charles Dickens, reads this traditional Christmas tale, in which Ebenezer Scrooge is taught the true meaning of Christmas by a series of ghostly visitors. Published in 1843, A Christmas Carol has become as much a part of Christmas as trees and stockings, plum pudding and mistletoe, enjoyed by children and adults alike. This audiobook includes a special feature, as family member Gerald Dickens recounts his understanding of this classic story.

After experiencing Gerald Dickens one man show of this title for 20 years, listening to the taped performance and now listening on Audible, every year, many times thereafter, I can truly say that this Audible performance IS Christmas for me. It is an amazing performance and such a GREAT addition to my holiday season. Thank you, Mr Dickens, Gerald Dickens, and Audible.

Story
"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

According to the "great" reviews this book is about what happens after death. It turns out to be a big love affair between two men, one of whom is dead.. If this is what happens after death, Im planning never to die!!!!!!
Please if you've got gay literature------ label it as such.

Story
Goldengrove’s towers and twisted chimneys rose at the very edge of the peaceful Weald, a stone’s throw from the poisonous marshes and merciless waters of Rye Bay. Young Tabby Palethorp had been running wild there, ever since her mother grew too ill to leave her room. I was the perfect choice to give Tabby a good English education: thoroughly respectable and far too plain to tempt her lonely father, Sir Kit, to indiscretion. I knew better than to trust my new employer with the truth about my past. But knowing better couldn’t stop me from yearning for impossible things.

In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure, and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world, and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

An Amazing Story
Reviewed: 04-03-20
This book is a book that I never would have chosen with a regular credit. Too strange. But it was a Daily Deal and cheap so I got it. It took a while before I could relate to it. There was a lot of violence and ugly language. Several times I thought of forgetting the whole thing.BUT I persevered and got completely caught up in it. (During these troubled times, anything that you can get caught up in is GREAT)
I wondered how the author could possibly draw all the strange happenings together . He did and the ending was terrific, as was the book in retrospect. I may read more of this author. I also really liked the 10,000 Doors of January. Think Ill write a review of it as well. (It was a Daily Deal as well. Joan Wysong
