Mostly a recitation of statistics and snide comments about rural communities. No real analysis or solutions, just an attempt at a West Wing style dunk that fizzles with any amount of critical thinking or applied class consciousness.

if you get past the racism, jingoism, and the endless military fetishism there's some poor writing and self insert power fantasies on the way to the bottom.

There's an interesting idea here, that someone else could have turned into a fun story with a delightful twist. But this didn't do it.

Pratt has good world-building and an excellent underlying idea, but flat characters, inconsistent tone, excessive exposition, and a plot on rails means I won't be continuing the series.

Bad writing. Clearly this plot was handed down from corporate and the writer was told to fill on the details, the did so poorly. Characters make decisions that make no sense except to further the plot. Everything was flat and two dimensional.

Good Brain Popcorn

Enjoyable, but not grounbreaking. Many New Yorker stereotypes will have you rolling your eyes, but nothing terrobly offensive.

Author clearly likes cops, the MTA, and Andrew Cuomo.

Hamilton stands on the shoulders of giants, but don't let that deter you from his work, which is epic sci-fi at it's greatest.
