Good story. Good narration.
Revisado: 11-15-24
This book was packed with bedroom scenes. If you are looking for some steam, this will be a good pick. The author did manage to fit a plot into the story. Some of the dangling plot threads from the previous book were resolved.
I was entertained. The author's writing style didn't always suit my tastes. Persistent misuse of the word 'never' aggravates me. Never means, at no point in time, ever. It does not mean, for certain period of time. Sigh.
Narration was performed well, and the narrator's voice is pleasant and well suite to the characters.

Good story. Good narration.
Revisado: 11-10-24
The book had entertaining moments. The story was packed with some well scripted bedroom scenes. They were a bit too extensive and choreographed for my taste, but might appeal to others. In addition to the steamy scenes, the book does have a plot with several potential plot threads, but nothing is really resolved. I know this series has at least four more books, but not wrapping up at least one thread annoys the writer in me. I also felt a bit frustrated with persistent missuse of the word never. Never means "at no point in time ever". Why do authors continue to use the word never when they mean did not? Anyway...
The narrator's voice was pleasant, and his performance was good. I will be listening to the next book so I can get a resolution to this story.

Historia
Three months after the murder of Mike Bressett, the sleepy town of Prophet faces another tragedy-the death of Billy Odette, a well-liked Makah man who ran trail rides for the tourists. When Billy is discovered to have been the victim of a vicious animal attack, dragged right off a popular trail, angry locals are quick to blame a wolf pack that's recently moved into the area. Sheriff Gabriel Thompson is the only authority standing between those who want to protect the wolves and those who want them hunted down-all while trying to keep people safe and get to the bottom of what happened.

I'm not sure who I adore more, the dogs or the humans. I know I needed a story with canine critters, and this one suited me. Animals are in peril in this story so be forwarded.
The romance continues to evolve nicely. We are getting to know the main character's back story a bit better. The plot has some tense action, and the narration is wonderful. I am looking forward to the next audiobook, and I hope this writer and narrator trio teams up again.

Revisado: 11-07-24
This book had all of my favorite things. The mystery has a dash of romance. The main characters are e
interesting and charming. The side characters are more than just place holders. The mystery has layers. The law enforcement procedure is believable. The setting is clearly and accurately laid out. The resolution is satisfying but plants ideas for future stories. And the narration is expertly performed.
I enjoyed this book so very much. I can usually spot the transitions in books with a writing team, but I didn't notice them in this book. RJ Scott and Eli Easton compliment each other's writing well, and Sean Crisden's voice is an excellent fit for this story. I am already working on the next book in the series and hoping the narration for the third will be done soon.

Historia
At 40, Lan Davis is looking for his damned picket fence and two point five kids. What he doesn't expect is instead of a wife in the picture, his mind keeps conjuring up images of two men. One, his partner in the force, who is as straight as they came, the other an ex, who he'd hurt but never forgot. After an incident leaves Lan injured, the two men rally around him...only maybe they shouldn't have. It seems a medicated Lan is a truthful one.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters. The romance was a melodramatic sometimes, but it also had sweet moments. The overall plot was a bit convoluted with some interesting moments. The dual narration was performed well, but I did get confused about which point of view I was hearing since there were three main characters but only two narrators. The audiobooks was entertaining, and I will keep an eye out for more books by this author that catch my interest.

Another great adventure for The Last Picks crew!
Revisado: 11-03-24
The right balance of details can dictate the difference between a mediocre book and a spectacular book for me. The strategically incorporated details in Doom Magnet vividly depicted Hastings Rock and provided clues to the murder mystery Dash finds himself trying to solve. The descriptions of Hastings Rock were decidedly spot on. I just happened to be in a small coastal Oregon town very much like Hastings Rock during the fall season. I kept expecting to see the Chipper coffee shop or the Otter Slide bar around the corner. I didn't find them, but I did find some real-life equivalents. Like Dash, I also kept asking myself why I hadn't brought a warmer coat with me.
Despite the serious nature of the mystery and some tense personal conflicts, I had fun listening to this story. Andrew Gibson continues to narrate all of the characters beautifully, and I enjoyed listening to their antics. I was a tiny bit disappointed in the choice of Halloween costumes by The Last Picks crew. The costumes of the kids trick-or-treating at Hemlock House were way better than the adults...except for Dash. Dash's costume was amazing. I adore his sense of humor.
The Last Picks continue to work well together as a team of misfits. Their support of each other brings some positive vibes to a grim story. Dash's internal dialogue is relatable, as he uses the Will Gower character he created to work through difficult situations. I am looking forward to finding out what Dash does with his Will Gower character and whether Will Gower (or Dash) ever finds true love. I am also looking forward to Andrew Gibson's narration of the next book in The Last Picks series with anticipation.

Sometimes, you just need a Lily Morton romance to smooth out the rough edges of a day. I definitely needed this book this week. The characters were charming and sweet, and the romance was also sweet with a bit of steam. This book reminded me of all the things I adored about Deal Maker including a narration that fit the characters well.

Historia
Hawks MC member Maddox "Beast" Lawson had a difficult time growing up. Tired of being ridiculed because of his effed-up brain-to-mouth connection, it was easier to say nothing at all. Living in silence worked out just fine until that b*tch called Fate took his hearing, not only that, but she also threw him into the arms of the man who refuses to acknowledge that one hot night they shared.

Good narration. Good story.
Revisado: 10-31-24
I really enjoyed the narration of this book. Stephen Dexter has a pleasant voice that suited the main characters. His performance was engaging enough to smooth out some of the rough edges of the story.
I appreciated the premise of the story. Both Jay and Maddox have some very real personal challenges to overcome. I felt that some issues were glossed over a bit too quickly. Maddox's challenges in communicating could have been explained a bit better. I also think Jay's sexuality could have been explored a bit more. I can relate to both issues on a personal level, and I thought their story would have been a great opportunity to clear up some misunderstandings about learning challenges and sexuality.
I enjoyed the story, and I will probably read more books by Lila Rose. I will definitely listen to more audiobooks narrated by Stephen Dexter.

You know what's not fun? Going on a Fiji vacation with four other couples. Especially when recently single. What's even worse is when a past hook-up arrives unannounced. Not only do we have a history, but he's 10 years younger and a famous rock star. Most importantly, he's my friend's little brother. Being trapped on an island with Jet Jackson is going to be sweet torture because all I want is another chance. I just don't think he's going to give it to me.

I started this series because I was curious about the premise of the first book. I kept listening because I really like the narration.
I wasn't quite as emotionally invested in this book as I was in previous ones from this series, but I still enjoyed the story. This book is worth a listen/read if you have read the previous books, and want the resolution to a story that was hinted at earlier in the series.

When I'm looking for a hookup, I want three things: big, thick, and rough. So it doesn't make sense that I can't get my new hire out of my head. He's a tiny guy with big ideas...and he's my apprentice, which means he's completely off-limits. But he's already under my skin. And for the first time with any guy, I don't think I can hold my own against him. Physically, yes. Emotionally, no. Auggie makes me weak.

Good story. Good narration.
Revisado: 10-26-24
I started this series because I like the narrators. The story is sweet and sappy with charming characters. There isn't much character development though. I actually took it a bit personally that the klutzy main character is relegated to administrative jobs. There is a reason why some people are accident prone. I am one of those people. I have sinus issues. I am not always klutzy. I was actually a college athlete. I think I would have enjoyed the resolution of this story more if the author explored why Auggie has issues rather than just using his idiosyncrasy as a way to build a connection to Leon. The premise didn't quite work for me.
The romance in the story was pleasant, and the narration was performed well by both Kirt Graves and Alexander Cendese.
