This is a wonderful series. I have thoroughly enjoyed all parts of it. Unfortunately the reviews left on part one of this series discouraged me from listening to it and getting the rest of the series for 3 years. Eventually I was desperate for something to listen to and downloaded part 1. (I would add my review to part 1 but for some crazy reason Audible won't let me review that audiobook.) I often get bored listening to the same story over many books and don't finish the series, but this one kept my attention all the way through so far. Don't let poor reviews keep you from listening to this. It's a great story.

I only have two small gripes about this book and the series overall. One, the authors must write TV series because they have no idea how to end a novel. A novel typically has an end where at least the story for that book is mostly wrapped up. These books have cliff-hangers just like a TV show would have to get you watch next week. Second, Audible does not have the last 2 books available. I guess I'm left to go to the publisher to get them. Other than these small gripes I could not suggest this series more strongly. I hope some of the authors other series are just as good.

I just can't keep trying to listen. This book is poorly written and the reading is even worse than the writing That combined with the fact that the book is about an idiot who didn't kill himself over and over simply because he was lucky. I just can't continue.

Rosamund Pike did a wonderful job narrating this book. I hope she continues through the rest of them. Nothing against the narration of Kramer and Reading which I have come to love, but it's always nice to hear a different voice read the same words. It's also nice to know that at least one person involved in The Wheel of Time TV series knows the real story as written by Robert Jordan. It seems Pike may be the only one who has actually read the book.

Somehow rated 4.3 stars even though we all hate it

At the current time this book is rated 4.3 stars, but I had to go pages into the reviews to find anyone rating it well, let alone 5 stars. (And the first of those I found was likely paid for.) So here's my poor rating and review to add to the collection.

While I'm pretty turned off by all the WOKE BS, just like so many others, that isn't my biggest complaint. My biggest complaint is that the nostalgia in this book is my nostalgia, but it is presented in such an utterly stupid fashion as to make me sorry I went down the road of reminiscence. I'd kind of like to listen to the ending, but every two to three minutes I find myself checking to see if the book is almost over. "When will it be over?" With three hours and 20 minutes remaining it will probably be over before the book actually ends. I don't think I can take it anymore.

The moral of the story? Always be Player One because Player two sucks at this game.

As prolific as he is many of us readers think of Asimov as transcendent in many ways. Somehow superhuman. Turns out he sees himself that way as well. There are so many things to like about this guy and so many things about him that I find distasteful. I can't decide if I would have liked to have known him or not. The thing is we are all that way. That is what makes us human. What I admire most about Isaac Asimov after listening to his memoir is that he knew all of this. As much as he thought of himself, and he tells us time and time again how much he admired himself, he knew he had faults and didn't try to hide that fact. I don't agree with a lot of his opinions but I respect that they were his opinions. I freely admit to not having read much more than his science fiction, which is a small part of his contribution to literature, but I'm grateful for his stories as I have enjoyed them immensely.

As for this book,..It's as well written and fun to listen to as his Sci-Fi and the reader did a fantastic job.

I was looking forward to another great story from J.K. Rowling. Turns out after the first hour I couldn't wait for this book to get over. I was hoping it would get better as the story went on, but it never did. I wouldn't recommend this book in any way to any one.

When I started this book, which I got for free, thanks Audible, I was disappointed to find it was a zombie apocalypse book. I love apocalypse, but not zombies. As I listened I was glad to find the story was really about the characters and not so much about the zombies. The characters are driven by the fact that there are zombies and there are of course zombie scares/attacks, but the story is really about the characters. I love the way Sarah Lyons Fleming writes and hope the rest of the series, which I'm about to purchase, is written the same. Her writing reminds me of some of the best character driven writing of my favorite horror author.

I listened to this garbage for 30 minutes and just couldn't take it anymore. I'm so glad I didn't pay for it. Even so I kinda still want my money back.

Odd Billy Todd is easily my second favorite post apocalyptic book very close behind The Stand. When I bought this book I had no idea what to expect. I kind of bought it on a whim and figured if I didn't like it I could return it. What I want to do is return to the world of Odd Billy Todd. I certainly hope Reed decides to continue the story because I can't wait to hear what happens next. The only downside to this book, if I have to find one, is the ending seemed kind of abrupt. Don't get me wrong it was a great ending, but I like when authors wrap up all of the little pieces. Unless of course they are going to continue the story. Here's hoping.

Why were we so afraid of this book in High School?

For me this is the summer of the classics. I'm listening to classic books that I have not read before. The Old Man and the Sea is one of those books that we hated the very idea of reading when I was in English Lit in High School. I remember being made to read a passage of 8 pages or so and getting the idea that the story was montonously about a man on the sea going up and down over waves over and over again for most of the pages of the book and wondering why anyone would want to read, much less write about it.

How wrong I was! This is a fantastic book!!! It was well written, well read, and very engaging. I could feel the struggle of both the old man and the great fish and found myself rooting for both as it seemed the old man himself was doing. I'm so glad I decided to put aside my prejudice against this book and listen to it. I'll probably cue it up again and listen for a 2nd time before summer is over.
