Historia
Jolene Hartgrave, here! I went from being a top dog lawyer to a hangdog pet psychic in the ruff part of town, all thanks to a pesky curse that gave me the gift of gabbing with animals. But my luck is finally looking up. I’ve teamed up with a hottie police officer and his snarky, lie-sniffing German shepherd to catch criminals. From a murdered fashion icon spinning a web of lies to the killed curator of an occult museum, I’m doggedly helping the police bring the bad guys to justice.

Made the mistake of buying this set. Didn't even make it through the first book. I couldn't keep listening. Sorry Erin. Just a bit lackluster.

Historia
Boxes of delicious chocolates and roses by the dozen are aplenty in the small town of Paramour Bay as Valentine's Day approaches, but all is not so rosy in Raven Marigold's life when a simple love enchantment goes horribly awry. You see, the affection spell is only meant to affect one recipient...not the entire town! Things for Raven go from bad to worse when small fires begin to break out all around town, causing damages to the local shops and homes alike.

First 3 books were okay....4 and 5, not so much.
Revisado: 07-12-24
I really enjoyed the first three books, the characters are fresh and the plots were good. But when book four came out, it felt like the relationship between Leo and Raven went into high toxicity! Leo shows narcissistic tendencies and is really quite abusive to Raven and she puts up with it. Needless to say, that ticks me off!
Book five was marginally better--marginally.
Holly Jackson is a favorite reader for me, but the the inflection she uses for Leo's dialog just really makes it feel toxic. And I cringe for Raven.
Book six has a different reader and it doesn't feel quite so bad. Jury is still out....

Not as interesting....
Revisado: 07-06-24
These are becoming predicable. Seems the same badies are always there, the shifters always seem to save them from themselves. After six books I still can't distinguish between the six sisters. It is interesting to see how their magic is changing, but you'd think by now they'd kinda be used to these changes and have some kind of grasp on what they can do and how.

I don’t want my friends to die on my behalf. I could never live with myself. But if I venture into the Underworld, it’ll be the most perilous journey of my life. This time, it isn’t just my life hanging in the balance, it is my eternity.

My first "Dramatized" Adaptation
Revisado: 07-06-24
I went into this series quite unsure if I would like the multiplayer cast, but I found that it was pretty good. There are times when the background noise gets a little obnoxious and loud, but for the most part it's well done. Since each character has its own cast member, discerning between characters is quite easy, like watching TV without the picture. Story narration is done by the female lead throughout the series.
The plot is interesting and keeps the story moving forward quickly. The premise is not one I've read before. There are a few R-rated scenes, but they're done tastefully. It does make me kind of feel like an unintentional voyeur, but not too bad.
If you haven't tried a dramatized adaptation, give this a listen. It's enjoyable!

An inherited tea shop, a quaint little Connecticut town, and its quirky residents have Raven Marigold believing her luck is about to change for the better. Of course, that was before she and her best friend found a dead body in the back of the charming store. Things go from bad to worse when Raven begins to hear a talking cat spouting on and on about magic and mayhem. Once Raven accepts that she's not losing her mind, she finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation while discovering her family's unusual lineage-the Marigolds are bona fide witches!

All loose ends tied up--with STYLE!
Revisado: 04-03-24
This was a great ending to a great series. I enjoy Jennifer's writing style and character development. I highly recommend this series and its finale! There's much humor and suspense and magic interwoven throughout the series.
For me, the only fly in the ointment is the narrator. Generally, she's great, able to express other characters very well, but when she narrates Brock's or Sebastian's dialog I'm grabbed right out of the story and trying to understand what those characters said. I can't decide if it's Irish or Australian. I find it somewhat annoying.
Don't let this steer you away from listening, Despite this hiccup, these are great stories.

Historia
Being a forty-something divorcee with a college-bound teenage son is a freaking cakewalk compared to wielding my unruly magic. Did I mention that my newly discovered sister wants to kill me? After a hellish week spent with older-than-dirt archdruids and a few new enemies, I’m ready to get home so I can hug my kid and sleep in my own bed. But nope, that’s not how my crazy magical mid-life works. My spirit magic has been triggered, and a ghost’s cryptic message gives me more bad news. Something worse than my psycho sister might be after me. Awesome.

I liked and didn't like this...
Revisado: 03-12-24
I have read all five books in this series and enjoyed them all and will most probably read them again. The stories are well crafted and well written. For the most part, I enjoyed all the characters, but I found as I moved through the series that the main character became demanding of her friends, guides, et. al. and not especially grateful for their help when they dropped what they were doing to do her bidding. Just found that a bit off-putting.
Still, that is not enough for me to not recommend these books. They're good, they're well narrated and worth reading.
Edited to add: Thank you SO much for correcting the narrator's pronunciation of the German word liebling.

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Probably the best she's written
Revisado: 10-11-23
I think this is Jennifer's best book yet. Story line is solid and characters are growing and developing. It's not the same ol' plot just being retold with slightly different events and endings. I really enjoyed the witches with MS group and appreciate Maeve's courage and strength. I can't wait for the next installment.
The narrator did a pretty good job. Seems like she's still having a bit of a challenge with the Australian accent.
I did get a free copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Historia
A plucky farm boy will find more than he's bargained for on his quest to awaken the sleeping princess in her cursed tower. First there's the Dark Lord, who wishes for the boy's untimely death...and also very fine cheese. Then there's a bard without a song in her heart but with a very adorable and fuzzy tail, an assassin who fears not the night but is terrified of chickens, and a mighty fighter more frightened of her sword than of her chain-mail bikini. This journey will lead to sinister umlauts, a trash-talking goat, and the Dread Necromancer Steve....

Sophomoric at best
Revisado: 08-24-23
If you're a 13 year-old boy, you might find it funny, but it's, well as I said, it's sophomoric. The performance is actually quite good, but it can't save the writing. I really can't finish it. I'm on chapter four and I just can't stand another 11+ hours....
