Story
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

This is a perfect example of why the author should not read their own story. It was very difficult to understand Morrison's words and speech. She is not a professional reader. I had to relisten to many sections to understand what she was saying. I would've found the story imuch more enjoyable with a professional reader.

Story
In the aftermath of Ireland's financial collapse, dangerous tensions surface in an Irish town. As violence flares, the characters face a battle between public persona and inner desires. Through a chorus of unique voices, each struggling to tell their own kind of truth, a single authentic tale unfolds. The Spinning Heart speaks for contemporary Ireland like no other novel. Wry, vulnerable, all-too human, it captures the language and spirit of rural Ireland and with uncanny perception articulates the words and thoughts of a generation.

Disappointed

I really wanted to like this book. The dialogue was great and I loved all of the old Irish expressions. There were too many characters to follow, so I had to create a chart to show the connections. Then the story abruptly ended.
