Story
Foreverywhere tells the tale of a young unicorn (perhaps the last on Earth?!) and his quest, along with a Giant named Rick, a spider named Betsy and the guitar-shredding Princess Rainbow, to form the best band in the fantastical world of Anyville. But first, they’ll have to contend with the increasingly strange weather that seems to follow Princess Rainbow everywhere, and a rival band determined to bring them down. Will this group of misfits be able to rise above?

Lady pirates ahoy!

Rebecca Soler — whose work I fell in love with after her performance of the Lunar Chronicles — delivered a rock solid performance of Natalie Parker’s kick ass story about an all-girl ship of rebels in a world at sea. I’m solidly looking forward to the next installment!

Story
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

What did you love best about The Wild Robot?
"What I really liked is how in the very beginning it had all this motion and sound so you can really picture the setting. I think it's just a really loving story."
What does Kate Atwater bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It wouldn't give me the emotion and I wouldn't be able to picture it very well without listening to it.
Any additional comments?
I think you should make a lot more books like this one. And also, other kids should listen!

I haven’t had this much fun listening to a story in a hot minute!
Buddy travel story + queer boys + nobility + highwaymen + Eurotrip + pirates + issues of race + a sinking island + a panacea = a. Maz. Ing.
Major kudos to Mackenzi Lee for pulling it off, this is to my YA shelf what Hamilton is to my music rotation. Thanks for the fun!

Story
Zach, Poppy, and Alice have been friends forever. And for almost as long, they’ve been playing one continuous, ever-changing game of pirates and thieves, mermaids and warriors. Ruling over all is the Great Queen, a bone-china doll cursing those who displease her. But they are in middle school now. Zach’s father pushes him to give up make-believe, and Zach quits the game. Their friendship might be over, until Poppy declares she’s been having dreams about the Queen - and the ghost of a girl who will not rest until the bone-china doll is buried in her empty grave.

Perfect middle grade balance of friendship, ghost tale, adventure and reality. As always, Black hits the right notes in her characters dialog and relationships.
