So so happy to see new work by Amanda Milo. This series is such a comfort read for me. The characters are charming and witty and deal with life’s twists and turns in such a well written and understanding way. Jonohkada finally finds his heart’s mate in this book and I couldn’t be happier with the addition of his story to the series.

I throughly enjoyed this book. The banter had me giggling out loud at the most random moments. Going from dead silent to explosive cackle definitely had my husband whipping his head around and winging his eyebrows at me several times. I wish there where more books in this series because there are characters I want to see get their happy endings but this book is worth the credit!

Comedic Slow-burn Cliffhanger

Be warned there are mild spoilers in this review:

This story surprised me! I’m not usually a reader who enjoys achingly slow burns in my romances but the way the romance felt so organic interspersed with the mystery made it a very enjoyable read that didn’t leave me wanting to throw something. I do want to throw things over the fact that the story ends in a tremendous cliffhanger.

Watching the stiff and socially awkward hunk of a villain learn to identify that he has been head over heels for the cute and quirky girl he made his assistant since the moment he met her was adorable. The one kiss we got out of this couple was pretty hot but that is all we get so this book reads a little more on the YA side as far as the romance goes but it does deal with heavy themes like SA. The comedy was very cutesy and lightened some of the darker scenes as the FMC definitely deals with her insecurities and trauma with humor.

I really can’t wait to see what happens with some of the side romances as well as our little frog Prince 👑 in the next book. I am dreading what The Villain is going to have to endure before The Villainess ends up saving him in the next book. I really can’t wait for the foreshadowed transformation from assistant to Villainess as well. The next book can’t come soon enough!

This story arc never ceases to keep me wanting more. Maelstrom is another great installment. The narrators continue to be fantastic and I particularly love the individuality that Gabrielle brings to her characters, but Stefan’s characterization of the voices is nearly as good. I honestly cant wait for book 10!

It’s honestly best to go in knowing nothing about the storyline so I’m not going to even spoil the first chapter here. Have your tissues ready because you’re going to need them when all of a sudden you’re smacked with a twist.

If you can’t stand a book that leaves you without a HEA rest assured your tears are worth it and there is happiness after all the heartbreak. There is a smattering of oh so spicy scenes throughout to boil the tears out of your system.

Honestly loved the whole listening/reading experience as the narration was phenomenal and the addition of the third narration at bits where I didn’t expect it truly sank in the knife.

10/10

Forest and Melody are a wonderful match. Their little broken pieces fit together so nicely. It was relatable to have a plus sized female lead struggling with the body positivity issues I struggle with and blush worthy how Forest looked at, thought about and devoured her both figuratively and literally 😉
The chemistry between these two has the potential for so much spice but boy do these two get shut down left and right. What we do get is darn hot but I still felt like I wanted more spice from them because they are feral for each other and as Melody said (spoiler) Forest didn’t even get to chase her through the woods and have his way with her 🥵🥵🥵
Being stuck in the human city/tower for most of the story was a bit jarring compared to the fun and magical world building of the rest of the series but it was worth it to get the satisfaction of everything that happens with Forest’s family. I honestly wait in turmoil for each book in this series because not only is each book a wonderfully spicy HEA but the world building and overarching connected story leaves me desperate to know what is next. The Faye Guardians series is definitely worth your credits 💖✨🐺🦇🦌🦅💀
