Great story but didn't feel "cozy" to me.
Reviewed: 11-01-24
I don't normally read "Cozy" romance because I like smut and I'm not ashamed, however the cover and blurb won me over. I enjoyed the story and the narrator killed it. I loved the magic system and the characters. The problem for me is that I thought "Cozy" meant there would less of the drama and high-stakes. Briar's stubbornness and bad decisions almost made me quit a few times.

Interesting take on the Omegaverse trope
Reviewed: 05-06-24
This was a sad story with a happy ending and an interesting take on the mpreg / Omegaverse trope. With out spoiling anything I will say there was a part near the end that I really didn't like but it wasn't enough to ruin the book for me. I was scared going in about a 12+ hour MM Omegaverse but once it was over I felt like it was the right length to wrap up the story in a satisfying way. I don't remember if there were trigger warnings, so for give this next part if there were and I forgot. The book talks about abuse quite a lot, physical, mental, and sexual abuse readers / listeners should be aware.

Story
There's no one worse for me to want in my bed than Jake Tully. He's hot and grumpy and literally a terrible idea. Terrible. Worse, no one has ever made me feel the way he does—valued. But here I am, thinking about him again. Falling for my sponsor is not my worst idea yet, but it's damn close.

Best Epilog Ever. *No Spoilers*
Reviewed: 05-06-24
This story had all the feels, two great narrators, and just enough spice.
If you are sensitive about drug abuse / addiction and or violence this may not be the story for you. The happy ending is hard earned in this one but the author wraps everything up well and then delivers the best epilog I've ever heard. Iggy Toma is the reason I picked this up, he is one of my favorite audio book narrators. Tristan Josiah was new to me but he was great and I'll be looking for more things narrated by him. There are some sex scenes and in case you didn't figure it out by the title the book they're MM sex scenes, but there weren't so many that I felt the need to bleach my ears afterword. (I like my smutty books, but some authors go too far.)
All in all it was a great, sad, happy, funny story that was well worth the credit and I will be looking for more from J. Daniels.

Reviewed: 04-22-24
I really liked this story, despite being a bit to short. The take on fated mates is different, and I liked how fated mates didn't equal insta* love. I was also pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a s3x scene every other chapter like some fated mates books. The narrator is new to me, but he did a very good job in my opinion.
**Spoilers incoming**
*They do fall in love quite fast, but it wasn't so fast as to feel like insta love.

I understand that not everyone can afford a human narrator and I appreciate getting to hear this story since I have a hard time reading a book with my busy schedule. That being said, the AI narrator can only do so much. There is no tonal inflection or change of voice to differentiate one speaker from another.
With the complaining out of the way, I will say that after reading the blurb I wanted to read / hear this story and was willing to deal with the AI Narrator. I truly enjoyed the story and am looking forward to where it goes in the next book. I wished Hunter and Cal would have had better communication, especially Cal who is an FBI agent. But, miscommunication is something I'm used to reading in romance novels. I liked that the authors seemed to know what they were talking about with the technical stuff. As an IT professional myself I was impressed that they came pretty close to how things work in reality.

Story
We became famous overnight. One day, I was a twenty-four-year-old drummer slinging pizzas to make ends meet, and the next, I was a member of the most popular alternative band ever. Despite being world-famous, there was no connection in it. I'd lost touch with reality, with intimacy. I couldn't find a place to be normal. I'd lived my entire life straight-edged while watching obsession destroy my best friend. Obsession terrified me—that is until I met him.

This story had potential. Unfortunately it missed the mark. All the character development happened at the end. They couple doesn't communicate at all so there are a lot of dumb misunderstandings. The spicy scenes are unbelievable and I don't mean that in a good way. There was no prep for the poor bottom and almost no fore play.

I thought I knew who I was, where I came from, but my life is turned upside down when a stranger knocks on my door with promises that seem too good to be true. I should have run like hell and never looked back, but it’s too late now. I’m enrolled at Cadieux College, where secrets and deception line the walls, and the founding families rule without question. They all think I’ll be easy to use, to control, but I’m nobody’s puppet.

I started listening to Wolfsong four days ago and when I was done with it I had to by the next on right away. I lost a night of sleep with that one and it was worth it. Gordo Livingstone never forgot the lessons carved into his skin. Hardened by the betrayal of a pack who left him behind, he sought solace in the garage in his tiny mountain town, vowing never again to involve himself in the affairs of wolves. It should have been enough. And it was, until the wolves came back, and with them, Mark Bennett. In the end, they faced the beast together as a pack… and won.
