This book is meticulously researched and surprisingly emotional.
No one understood why I liked King Henry VII so much and this book explains it so well.

Another good book in a great series. The books go so fast because they are so interesting to listen to.
Same narrator. He did a good job and did not detract from the story.
I will definitely be continuing on with the rest of the series. The only annoying thing is that Lee can get very wordy with his writing. He needs to tighten it up.

For its purpose, it does the job. There are times the book feels like it is headed toward paparazziville, but it always evades this. It rehashes a lot of old material but includes new material, too. I gave it a five because for what it was designed to do, it did it well. It's not like I was reviewing, "I Claudius."

I've listened to hundreds obooks on medieval Great Britain and never found them boring...until now. I just couldn't get focused on the material and I noticed I was rewinding a lot.
Well, I was able to listen to the stories provided and enjoyed they.

What can be said about a woman who has already scraped the pot clean?
Well, you will find out with this book and the fabulous Miriam.
I think I enjoy her unflinching attitude toward the truth more than anything. It would be so much easier for Miriam to disengage and avoid the confrontation, but that's not her way and I immensely admire her for that.

Over the last few months, I've been getting every book I can about the English royal family from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth II. This book provides a superb overview of this time period.
The narrator does a nice job at pacing the story and keeping the delivery of the story coherent and intact.
The author does an excellent job of humanizing the story and not just regurgitating facts. I found the information provided fascinating and entertaining.
Get this book. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

How do you critique perfection? I remember listening to this book for the first time and for the tenth time and every revisitation still knocks me off of my feet. Joan gives an authentic voice to the mourning and the grieving. Her words resonate with us as true, crushing, and devastating, and yet tangible because we've all "been there."
Jim Dale is truly a tour de force. To me, all narrators are judged based on Dale's performance, and VERY few match up.
This book is just another gem in the Harry Potter series. Please listen. You won't be disappointed.

This is a long book and I initially thought I was in for a real dud. However, I ended up being pleasantly surprised.
There is a lot of "tech speak" in this book. For example, there is a lot of dialogue between characters in chat rooms that takes getting used to and understand.
Trust me. After about 15 minutes it won't even bother you anymore.
The narration was great. He nails the protagonist's personality and his nuances. My husband and I were actually lol at the protagonist's irreverent humor and smart-aleck personality.
I will give a word of caution. This is NOT Harry Potter and if you don't like some pretty brutal cursing then don't get this book.
