I loved every minute of this book. In fact, I devoured it like a big plate of spaghetti! Ina Garten’s words and narration were akin to being covered in a warm, fuzzy blanket. Not only was her book an enjoyable listen, but an inspiration to me. While I did not have the painful childhood that she wrote about in her book; I too did not know how to cook, because it just did not interest me in the slightest!
I learned that I was expected to cook immediately after, like Ina. I got married really young. I began to cook, guided by my mother, and discovered that not only did I like it, but it became my passion.
Thank you, Barefoot Contessa, for being you always.

Great story line!

I loved this book, but there were several grammatical errors. When referring to people, it is correct to use who or whom; not that. That is used for inanimate objects and animals, for instance. Also, when referring to to two brothers, as in this story, they should have been referred to as, the elder or older brother, and the younger brother. If there had been a third brother, there would be the eldest, middle, and youngest brother. Incorrect grammar and mispronounced words in audio books makes me crazy! Does anyone edit these books for those errors?

Riveting story

I loved this story, but at times it was hard to listen to. I found the story of the main character’s early life as a foster child was heart wrenching!
The narrator was ok, but mispronounced words and used incorrect grammar; not a lot but enough to cause me to groan.

Story
Back in college, Jane Lewis would have given anything to be like homecoming queen Connie Bryan. Instead she was just Plain Jane - overweight, frumpy, and painfully shy. That was then. Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. The only thing missing is someone to share her life.

I liked the story and the characters very much!
The narration was mostly ok, but there were enough mispronunciation’s to make me wince!
One example is the word realtor. The narrator said, “realator.” Another oops was Hermes when speaking about a scarf. She pronounced it “hermes.”
Also, cement is the element when mixed with sand and/or gravel that makes concrete. If you stepped on cement you’d get stuck.
There were other mistakes, but I enjoyed the book anyway.
