Wild Swan is a short story about Florence Nightingale's grit and determination. Florence never wanted to marry. She turned down two wedding proposals and went against her parent's wishes, bucking traditional roles. Her aspirations were nursing and writing - never did she long to be a wife or mother. I only wish Callahan would have focused on Nightingale's triumphs instead of her refusal to marry.

Narration is nice. There are a few passages that sound robotic but can be alleviated by adjusting the speed. It has more of a biographical feel than an actual storyline. A quick listen that passes the time nicely.

Well, I didn't fall asleep. Bram introduced himself. His voice is calm and soothing. Beings this is called SLEEP ISLAND, Bram asks that you imagine yourself on an island. I had zero problems placing myself on my island home of Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. The fact that I'm not truly there and in the States made me incredibly nostalgic for the sea. The more Bram had me visualize the sounds and smells of my wonderful island, the more I became terribly homesick. As Bram was asking me to place myself in the idyllic, serene setting, I started to have the worst longings I've had since leaving the island. All I could think is: How do I get back? What airline should I call? Should I start swimming? Bram asked me to sense the people passing me on the beach. All I could think is: Why do they get to be there and I'm not? I was jealous of imaginary islanders tinkling their wine glasses together as I smelled the salt air and the islander's pinchos. (Pinchos are an island staple. Think shish kebab) I could certainly taste pinchos – smoked in that Puerto Rican sauce of perfection. Now I'm hungry. Then, I had to hear a real train in the distance and thought, WAIT! there's no trains on my island! Why is there a train on my island, Bram? Every time he said I was on the island, I screamed in my head, 'But I'm not on an island, Bram! I'm in the heart of COVID!' I think I was crying at the end of Bram's ramblings and slightly panicked to get back to Puerto Rico. Sleepless in the States...perfect. Thanks, Bram! I think this is best left for meditations, when I prefer to escape reality — not when I'm trying to nod off.

Katy goes to NYC on a hunch. That it's a totally random hunch makes no difference. NOTHING is too big to tackle! In the meantime, Katy's podcast is gaining popularity. She has ONE new listener that isn't a family member. Wow! Talk about progress! (When you have grandiose delusions EVERYTHING is B-I-G. Turns out, NYC is massive. Finding Kenny Daniels in a haystack may even prove too large a feat for Katy. But, one thing is certain...it's ALL making sense. Everything leading up to this moment, in this city, is suddenly crystal clear. Or is it?

Katy Perry (still not that Katy Perry) is clueless. (Catch that?) And, I'm still laughing. Hate that I'm moving on to Episode 6. Like Katy, I don't want this podcast to end.

Still on a quest for redemption, Katy gets a solid lead on Kenny's possible location. Will Katy's podcast conclude with three episodes? Is she THAT good at sleuthing and podcasts? Will she get a great deal on Kate Spade plates at TJ Maxx? (My hunch says, not really. About the plates anyway)

I love the podcast and the more I listen, the more I wish this was an actual streaming series with live cameras. It's just great, lighthearted fun.

I loved Alicia in Clueless. She's the perfect IT Girl. Here, she's just as clever. No one delivers a shallow person better than Silverstone, who is anything but shallow in real life. EAT SH*T KENNY DANIELS is pure enjoyment and escapism. I don't care what kind of sh*t the world throws at me, this podcast delivers laughs and entertainment. Another reviewer mentioned being annoyed by some of the 'over-acting'. IMO, if the MC has a blown up feeling of self-importance all of her emotions, thoughts, and actions are going to sound outlandish. That's the point. That's how she views it: larger than life! The world revolves around a self-absorbed person's grandiose ideals...and Silverstone nails it! Laugh out loud funny!! I loved the character portrayals, even the exaggerated tones. This podcast is easily visualized. If it's been a difficult day, I turn it on and instantly gain a smile.

How many of us have a big, memorable moment in high school that feels life altering? It may be your big moment, but would anyone else think of it as life-changing? Does your most memorable moment even register in someone else's mind? Katy Perry (not THAT Katy Perry) seems to think so. She creates a podcast that centers around one moment in high school - a second or two that may have changed the fates for herself and Kenny Daniels. At least that's how Katy views it. Seeking fame (Oops... I mean REDEMPTION), Katy makes it her mission to locate Kenny Daniels and set the record straight. It's not as easy as Katy predicts. Who knew one actually had to get out of the house to solve a mystery? Do you really have to be active on social media to gain followers? Can't we just buy followers? If anyone can turn a singular moment of time into an entire podcast series, Katy Perry is your girl.

Phenomenal story! Adjoa Andoh is a fabulous narrator. I could feel, and sense, the emotional turmoil and devastation that is Adunni's young life. This is an intelligent book with heart and soul. Unfortunately, so much of Adunni's tale is a reality for many girls of Nigeria. Through Abi Daré's extraordinary writing, Adunni is able to find her courageous louding voice. I cried and cheered for Adunni every painful step of her journey.

Completing this novel, I can't help feeling grateful for my education and the freedom to choose. I think I'll go and hug my books now.

Good luck to all young women who dream of using their Louding Voice. Shout it from the rooftops... wherever you are. Don't give up!

" When I walk away from the library I don't close the door. I leave it open for the spirit in all the books to be flowing me." - Adunni

Swanson's essay revisits that infamous night in history, the night an American President was serenaded by the most famous blonde in the world. Did the night end at the afterparty, or did JFK and Marilyn conclude the evening together? Swanson is currently researching details of this night. He uses his essay to reach out to anyone that may have attended the Presidential birthday party at Madison Square Garden.

"The marquee outside the Garden broadcast the evening’s stars in huge letters: BEST THING TODAY . . . JOHN F. KENNEDY / 2ND BEST THING . . . MARILYN MONROE."

Swanson is seeking possible attendees of both parties: the birthday salute and the private afterparty. Actual ticket sales (in its entirety) are lost to history, but at $10 a ticket I can only imagine the thousands of tickets sold for the BIG event. C'mon. Kennedy AND Marilyn Monroe at MSG!!! Had I been alive back then, I would have happily sold my brother to attend that gig. Swanson hopes someone will come forward with new information or personal videos. He's also trying to recreate the guest list for the private party – by invitation only. Most importantly, we all want to know about that damn picture by Cecil Stoughton — the only surviving picture in the world that captured both Marilyn and Jack. Officially, there is no other picture that exists of the two together. Does this image harbor secrets? Is there more to the story? If you were at that party, either one of them, give Swanson a shout. He's looking for YOU.😎
