In general I love books by Alan Dershowitz, and this one is no exception. It’s an easy, quick listen, but don’t let that fool you because it is still just as powerful and thought-provoking as his others.
Truly hits on key issues facing us today with trials, the media, and how best we can achieve solutions to such problems. Highly recommend this book to all.

Story
Jonathan Haidt skillfully combines two genres-philosophical wisdom and scientific research-delighting the listener with surprising insights. He explains, for example, why we have such difficulty controlling ourselves and sticking to our plans; why no achievement brings lasting happiness, yet a few changes in your life can have profound effects, and why even confirmed atheists experience spiritual elevation.

Amazing & Beneficial - A Must Have!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book when I first purchased it, but considering the fact that I highly enjoyed another book that was co-authored by Haidt I decided to give this book a try and am so glad that I did! Not only was this an intriguing book that continuously gave rich information about the mind and how people’s view of the world matters, it also broke down complicated subjects in a way that allowed me to follow along easily and thus reap the benefits of this book’s message. I actually have already listened to it twice and will be going for a third round after finishing a few others.
This book is without a doubt one of my new favorites because of the life-changing advice I was able to absorb, not to mention the fact that it was a delight to get through because of the entertaining way such advice is presented to the reader/listener by the author.

Love this audiobook. I was impressed with every aspect of it. The vast array of neat little gems interwoven throughout the larger subject matter / main story line was not only amazing, it was engulfing as I found myself devouring more more chapters with each ones closure.
A wonderful insight into this great Leader, and great Lawyer (such insight only coming after delving into this book). A must have and definite buy for anybody interested history.

The civil liberties and constitutional rights possessed by our nation's citizens-not only in theory, but in the courtroom, where the state can be forced to honor those liberties-are a uniquely American invention. And when we were taught history and learned about the Constitution and its Bill of Rights, we were always made aware of that uniqueness, of the extraordinary experiment that gave to every citizen of this new nation a gift possessed by no others.

Great Book & Easy Listen

I am a fan of constitutional themed books. This one caught my attention but I was hesitant since such subject matter can easily be told only in light of great bias or out another way with heavy view point prejudice attached to the underlying content.
I am happy to report that after finishing this book I can say that my fears were for the most part completely unfounded. The author who is also the narrator does a great job of going through this subject without demanding the reader (or listener) land on either side of any particular issue.
I highly recommend this book as it is both an easy listen as well as extremely informative.

Story
For more than 20 years since his New York Times best seller Don't Know Much About History first appeared, Davis has shown that Americans don't hate history, just the dull version dished out in school. Now Davis turns his attention to what is arguably the most important and most fascinating subject in American history: our presidents. From the heated debates over executive powers through the curious election of George Washington in 1789 and, for more than 200 years, up through the meteoric rise of Barack Obama, the presidency has been at the heart of American history.

Loved this book overall. The narrators were great and I found the way the each presidential story was told gave a clear concise way to absorb with pleasure the facts.
Given that I loved this book overall so much I hate to even say this, but the only thing that threw me off was the quick facts type reading given at the beginning and end of each section. I still gave 5 stars across the board but it did give me pause sometimes who I was listening to for a second since I am listening while doing a many a things & sometimes had to rewind.
Again though, this is an amazing book worth buying and listening to a couple of times in my opinion.

It was Alexis de Tocqueville who, when he visited the new republic for the first time, said that America was a unique country when it comes to law. Every great issue eventually comes before the courts. With this in mind, esteemed professor and civil liberties lawyer Alan Dershowitz looks at history through the prism of the trial, which presents a snapshot of what's going on in a particular point in time of the nation's history.

I highly recommend this audiobook. Not only did I learn a lot and enjoy the way the stories were presented chapter by chapter, I was also pleasantly surprised at having such an insider view into the bulk of these cases. The author was either personally involved or had some direct connection to so many of these fundamental cases which provided a perspective not easily obtained by others.

I was not quite sure what to expect from this audiobook when Prof Murray said she was a forensic anthropologist with a love of history, but let me say that she pulled off an incredibly interesting lecture and did so via a wonderful performance throughout. I highly recommend listening to this because it not only highlights methods & the like of forensics but it also does so in a highly entertaining fashion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book overall. If the performance has been better meaning the person who read it had done a better job and I probably would have enjoyed and given five stars.
Not for everyone and definitely not to be considered a weekend light read or something to casual listen to in bed. I would say this book is specifically tailored to enrich those minds that have a passion for the law or a yearning to understand legal matters via historical references.
If this is you, then I would prepare for a great read by one of the most articulated & gifted Supreme Court Justices ever to grace the paper with a pen.
