COMPLICATED STORY
Revisado: 11-20-23
I was intrigued when reading the book details. I’m from North Carolina and enjoy being able to know the locations mentioned in a storyline. The NC coastline seems to be somewhat popular recently with authors. In my minds eye I could imagine the beach areas and the familiar activities. While I did enjoy the story itself I had begun to figure out the person who abducted the females before the last few chapters. I did like the mix of characters. One real surprise nugget in the story was not only being from NC but at one time I had lived in Carroll County, Virginia. Somewhat strange I guess. I’m sorry to say I am very disappointed with the ending. Maybe a second book to answer the question we are left with.

One Of My Favorites
Revisado: 10-06-23
I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks for a long time. I have read most all his books except the latest publication. Maybe it’s my age and the loss of my spouse but this story I found to be very much a true love story. The kind of love I was blessed to have known for over fifty years. I found myself wanting to shout out to Hope not to leave Tru and marry Josh. A love like she was passing up comes to most of us rarely. I was so pleased that the ending came full circle for them. I recommend this novel for a good “summer read” or one for those cold winter evenings by the fireplace in Western North Carolina where I live. Or anytime on the NC coast.

Historia
By all accounts, Thomas Gilbert Jr. led a charmed life. The son of a wealthy hedge fund manager and a financier, he grew up surrounded by a loving family and all the luxury an Upper East Side childhood could provide: education at the elite Buckley School and Deerfield Academy, summers in a sprawling seaside mansion in the Hamptons. He was strikingly handsome, moving with ease through glittering social circles and following in his father's footsteps to Princeton. But Tommy always felt different, and the cracks in his façade began to show.

SAD CIRCUMSTANCES IN MANY AREAS
Revisado: 08-02-23
I feel bad saying upfront that my heart does not feel remorse for Tom, Jr. I getting ahead of the outcome as I feel the jury dealt with the evidence carefully and justly. All along I was thinking if they would realize the real guilt in that he asked his mother to leave for sandwiches and a Coke. It was stated repeatedly he would be aware tgey did not keep Cokes in the home. He had planned the attack. He had purchased the gun out of state planning to use it on someone. The final resolve to Tom , Jr was he was going to have to get a job or find other ways to get his fathers money. It is so sad that he didn’t realize the financial situation his parents were in The way he spent money would not have lasted long anyway. Also to this end his mother should bear a great deal of shame. Not in fighting for treatment but for how she had spoiled him and many times behind her husband’s back supplied Tom, Jr with money to get him out of trouble. Somehow she must be feeling regrets.

Good story for easy Sunmer reading
Revisado: 08-01-23
Let me start by saying the location drew me in when reading the details before downloading. I’m a Tarheel through & through. Not so much for the sports involved with the name but for my love of my home state of NC. I absolutely love the entire coastal region although I live in the Piedmont Region with green rolling hills of farmland but also the industrial areas located between the mountain ranges and the coast. From the descriptions I could see the characters come alive as they developed in the story I had an image of the cottages and their former colors faded by the hot summer sun. I imagined the hurricanes and storms that had battered the beaches as they came ashore. The loss of structures and even those not able to survive. Our costal neighbors live with these possibilities year in and out. But they are a dedicated, hearty people that love the life they have most of the year. NC has something of beauty from coast to mountains. But our beaches are unique. It’s hard to come by a cottage or two that has been passed down through families that goes on the real estate market. The land land areas designated for building has been bought up by a lot of retirees moving here, I can picture the bonfires at night with games and entertainment. Kids running down to the edge of the ocean in the moonlight. And I can hear the stories being told of shipwrecks and even the pirates gold still buried a few mikes offshore. The ghost of a woman standing on a dune watching for her lover to return. There are so many stories without logical endings about the region. But families that have held secrets are not unusual. I bet most families have a little but of a dirty laundry they hope never gets out.

Definitely a Fascinating Read
Revisado: 07-06-23
Being from NC I could relate to so many places, the language and general way people sometimes speak also the way to story unfolds with mention of towns from the coast to the mountains.
I found details in the story to catch my attention and all proved to be accurate to my mind. Much of the events were things I had studied or heard about. I look forward to more of Lisa Wingate’s ’

A Heart Gripping Story
Revisado: 07-02-23
This is my first novel by Donna Everhart, but certainly not my last. Maybe because the main location is in the South that I could relate to the mannerisms and quirky language since I reside in the South and found that the author lives in my home state. The story is so believable that you want to read it in one day. From a truly gifted author.

This true story combines happenings within a family that most of us can never imagine. Parts of the story are hard to read knowing that many families are this dysfunctional. In the end Forgiveness becomes the tie to hold it all together. Sometimes forgiving ourselves is the hardest of all. .

I enjoy nothing more than a well written book and from the description of the plot and the fact I know the location region very well I thought I was in for a real treat. I just could not get into the storyline. I kept replaying thinking I missed a detail. Was way too strange.
