first, I wouldn't have recognized his voice, but I love that he read his own book. I love even more how transparent he is in the writing. I am not an addict, but feel I understand the disease more and can allow myself some compassion to those who struggle. thank you, Matthew for sharing

Everyone should read this

This book underlines the necessity to look inside oneself for true healing and a peaceful longevity of life. It brings medicine and psychology together as one. The physiology of our body directly reflects our psychic hardwiring from childhood forward. How do we move past this? How can the way we think and where we put our energy make such an impact on our body? I highly recommend that everyone read this.

I thought the story was good, the end result is a good thought. I was not a fan of the computer voice. I think a real human would have done a much better job at delivery.

Story
Once upon a time, there was a forgotten era of magic and monster. But the remnants—and all memory—of the old world have been replaced by the sane, the scientific, and the rational. But sometimes the magical past isn’t content to stay past. That’s where Jack Damian comes in. It’s his joy to protect our present from the supernatural remnants of an earlier time, a different history. It’s his job to make the past safe. Jack is called to the Tate Museum, where dozens of people have disappeared beneath the surface of a painting.

After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Story
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.
