Story
At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Classic sci-fi at its best
Reviewed: 09-03-24
Although the narrator had a pleasant voice and a docent range of voice characters the presentation was mostly flat. It was almost like he felt the story should be told without any emotion. His voice acting certainly did not add to the story.
But the story itself is one of the best ever written and stands on its own.

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Skippy is Truly Magnificent
Reviewed: 12-19-23
This series keeps getting better! I am so glad that the author decided to extend Skippy and Joe’s grand adventure.
My only concern is will the author be able to extend the story to book twenty. In this book the protagonist and threat has been elevated to such a degree that moving forward seems problematic. Hopefully the next book will revolve strongly around the central alien species and developed characters to continue the storyline.

Original outlook concerning an artificial intelligence. Well written, interesting, and entertaining. I especially enjoyed Murderbot’s character development. The voice actor was outstanding and consistently added flavor to the story. On the negative side this series feels like short stories rather than chapters of a novel.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Story
Hundreds of years ago, the last humans on Earth boarded the Exodus Fleet in search of a new home among the stars. After centuries spent wandering empty space, their descendants were eventually accepted by the well-established species that govern the Milky Way. But that was long ago. Today, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, the birthplace of many, yet a place few outsiders have ever visited. As many Exodans leave for alien cities or terrestrial colonies, those who remain are left to ponder their own lives and futures.

Life Centered Aboard a Spacecraft
Reviewed: 10-30-23
The book is based on how a successful human society would be structured to survive on an ark vessel. The lives of numerous central characters are woven together to give a glimpse of this society. Narrator did an excellent job and is an excellent storyteller. Writing and character development was also well done.
The four star rating was based on the fact that I was not emotionally drawn into the story. I like the writing style of this author and the low conflict worlds she describes.

But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Too much Fiction Not Enough Science
Reviewed: 09-28-23
Author’s writing style is excellent and he does a good job fleshing out the major characters. Voice actors did a wonderful job. I especially liked having male and female voice actors as very few artists can play the role of both sexes believably.
But good science fiction is based on scientific principles either from current theoretical models or proposed future technological breakthroughs. In this genre Science should come first with Fiction sprinkled in to make it interesting. This story was pure fantasy and required the listener to be an individual with a first graders scientific/engineering background to be enjoyable. At the books conclusion the author wrote in his big reveal. Unfortunately the revelation was both mundane and uninteresting .
