This is one of Picoult’s best, among many of her great stories. Realistic—even lovable—characters interwoven to create deep emotion in the reader. Suicide is proven to be a non-answer to life’s hurts and there is healing and a change of mind on the subject. One of the best novels I’ve read/listened to in years of avid reading.

So much to learn about this period and Gabaldon makes it come alive and touch our emotions.

There’s a good twist in this one. Also, the interview with Cornwell is interesting after the end of the book. It’s fun to learn how prolific writers get their fresh ideas.

Kate Burton makes Scarpetta sound mean and cranky. Merino and Benton don’t sound like men OR those characters we know. Kate Reading is definitely the superior performer for these personalities and stories. I will look forward to Reading’s return for Books 20 & 21.

Although Jonathan Keeble is one of my favorite narrators and Poe one of the genius writers of all time, I found this to be an impossible listening experience. I suppose I prefer some books to be read on pages with the narrator’s voice in my own imagination.

Loved every minute of this story. Now I’m hooked on DCI Ryan Mysteries. I only wish they were all dramatized. Rich characters, gripping action, surprising plot turns. The voices and sound effects enriched the reading experience.

The story flies along and the narrator is especially good. The best thing is that you won’t guess the ending. Lots of strange characters, a gorgeous mansion and spooky shadows.

Good story. One of the readers had an annoying inflection that I found distracting, but the story was very good so I tried to ignore it. Simone is becoming one of my favorite authors.

This spooky story is really about the deep bonds formed between girls in a cold, uncaring boarding school environment. There are ghosts, murders, shadows and creaky floors. The girls help each other to find joy and meaning in spite of finding themselves up against true evil.
