Story
In the slums of 18th-century France, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born with one sublime gift - an absolute sense of smell. As a boy, he lives to decipher the odors of Paris and apprentices himself to a prominent perfumer who teaches him the ancient art of mixing precious oils and herbs. But Grenouille's genius is such that he is not satisfied to stop there, and he becomes obsessed with capturing the smells of objects. Then one day, he catches a hint of a scent that will drive him on an ever-more-terrifying quest to create the "ultimate perfume" - the scent of a beautiful young virgin.

I definitely enjoyed most of this book. it was written very beautifully and it was definitely interesting and not a topic that has been overly done. I recommend it. it just wasn't a mind-blowing 5 star

I will always love these books. I've been listening since 6th grade (my father flipped through one and threw them out when he saw the shut I was reading lol). I am in my mid 30s now. Please LKH, keep writing these!!! And Kimberly Alexis is a total badass!! one of the best narrators ever. I feel like I will always imagine Kimberly's voice when I think of Anita. I even got my husband, who hates books (I can't believe I married someone who hates books. should have been my first clue that 10 years later, I'd want to run! lol) to listen to all 30 books in the series. Now what to go to next??

Two years ago I made her my final girl. Perhaps I'm a little obsessed. The shrine covering my bedroom wall would certainly agree. I've even played out a few scenarios that end with her taking my knife in much more creative ways than usual. Today is the day I finally take her life. I'm ramping up the carnage and tying up loose ends in bloody bows.

This was a pretty cool audiobook. For the first few chapters, I really struggled to get into this book. But before I was half way through, I found myself really getting into it. It kind of gave me Mr. & Mrs Smith vibes... only with serial killers. I definitely haven't read anything similar. The narrator was also fantastic!

Virginia Constance Kramer is a good girl. Until she meets the man that makes her want to be bad.... He’s got a record; she’s never been so much as grounded. His old man is a convict; her dad is the police sergeant. He’s seen too much darkness; she can barely see out of the stained-glass curtain the world wants her to hide behind. He thinks she’s too good, too sweet, too pure for a man like him.

I liked this novella, for the most part. Although I'm pretty sure it's just me and not the actual book. it's rare when I find a novella that I really enjoy. I always feel like there should be more. But I must say there are some things the author did do fairly well on that other novellas seem to lack, such as character development and a great back story. Harper was able to give us both in a very short amount of time, which was impressive.
I also though the narrator was excellent. She was loud enough and spoke clearly enough for me to listen while i was in the shower with crappy speakers. So I was definitely pleased about that!
I will definitely be keeping a look out for more books from this author!

I think that the actual story was pretty good. It had a lot of potential. But I kind of felt like the publisher gave the author a word limit. There were many places in the story that didn't feel like it was well explained or rushed. I think if the author had expanded on a few things, it would have been great. Both narrators did an excellent job. And I was able to get this book done in less than a day, which was cool. Maybe I'm just not a short story/novella kind of girl 🤷♀️ ❤️

This book has been sitting in my library for quite a while. Now that I've listened to it, I wish I had gotten to it sooner. I'm big into fantasy type books and this totally isn't that. But it was still able to hold my attention from beginning to the very end. I also really enjoyed this narrator. She was clear, easy to understand (even when I'm listening in the shower with a crappy speaker), and pleasant to listen to. I'm excited because while I've never read/listened to this author before, I have a few more of her books 📚 in my library. I can't wait to explore them and see what else Hall has got!!
