Publisher's summary

In the first novel in New York Times best-selling author Ian Douglas’ Solar Warden series, government conspiracy theories, UFO history, and thrilling space combat come together in an unforgettable interstellar military science fiction adventure.

The Truth Has Always Been Here....

In the final days of World War II, the Allies ransacked Berlin. Third Reich scientists were highly sought-out prizes for Americans and Russians desperate to possess the Nazi knowledge of nuclear firepower. But they failed to capture one of the most vital members of Adolf Hitler’s inner circle: SS Obergruppenfuhrer Hans Kammler. One of the engineers of Auschwitz, Kammler was also a liaison with the Nazis’ silent partners whose technological wonders nearly helped the Axis win the war - the alien species the Germans called the Eidechse.

More than seven decades later, US Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander Mark Hunter has witnessed the impossible. On a mission in North Korea, an unidentified flying object destroyed a compound developing weapons of mass destruction. Now, he has been recruited to join a government agency that has been harboring a secret alliance with extraterrestrials since 1947. Selected to lead an elite force of soldiers, Hunter will travel across the stars to help humanity stake its claim among greater intelligent life in the universe.

But the aliens who have infiltrated Earth and guided warmongering nations since the 20th century have their own agendas....

Great Hook

Love the hook, well researched well quoted. Mixing fact with fiction made it feel believable and grounded. However, after the hook was set, it drifts into standard military sci-fi - could be a recipe for wash and repeat - but there are infinite possibilities, so who knows! Excited to see where this story goes!

Ian Douglas found Fox Mulder's truth

This book was very well researched. One of the best alien books I've heard in a long time. There's many references and incorporations of widely accepted alien lore all well mixed with an awesome story and good narration.

Fact or Fiction?

This is, I think, a fictional story that collates all publicly known urban legend related to the UFO phenomena history since the 1940s and weaves a fascinating timeline.

If nothing else, this story is at the very least a great introduction to this collection of knowledge.

I think the story is solid, and the narrator does a great job in telling it besides. If you had heard of the Solar Warden apocrypha previously and the possibility of that being true even minorly peakes your interest, you will like this story.

Well done Ian.

So bad it's terrible

This books I had high hopes for and I tend to love so bad it's good things... well this is so bad it's terrible. I wish I could get a refund credit this is so bad. Since I'm stuck with it I'm trying to force myself to finish it, but halfway in it's just a rehash of the most popular action packed youtube conspiracy theories on Aliens presented as if they are true .. which sure is coo it's repeats itself over and over and over again selling what tiny bits of source material exists for the intergalactic war. It doesn't help the narrator is lifeless and reads this in a droning voice, not that he has much to work with... I want to find something good to say, but yeah ... this is bad. If it were 99c I'd prolly give no krecks but yeah ... kinda feeling burnt here.

Very Enjoyable

Well done blending of the real and fiction to create and plausible in a scifi kind of way story lines. Got a bit bogged down in detail and redundant plot lines at times but im thinuthose were to lay the foundation of the literary universe being created.

Audible recommended it—I actually loved it!

Not familiar with the author’s other work, but this one sure didn’t disappoint. Grabbed it on a whim, trusting Audible’s recommendation. The story is unique and ties together modern special forces lore with alien theories and conspiracy theories. Great listen. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thought provoking and original.

Super interesting. I dug the historical aspects of the story. Especially since I am a conspiracy theory guy. The narrator was great also.

Loved it, use of historical backdrop, use of military main character, use of ancient alien/UFOlogy excerpts ... Nick Sullivan did a wonderful job. A++... going to look up some more Ian Douglas!
