Publisher's summary

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

They chose the narrators poorly

First, it’s ridiculous that parts 1 and 2 are released so far apart.

Second, who approved these voice actors for some of these roles? They’re awful! Who decided Tairn, the fiercest dragon should sound like Mr Rogers? Using the guy from Acotar for Xaden was a huge mistake. He doesn’t fit the character. He would’ve been a better fit for Dain.

The person who did Violet put weird pauses mid sentence that shouldn’t be there and there was no difference between her inner monologue, narration, and speaking.

I was hoping they would’ve learned after the first audio book being a complete disaster but this one is just as bad.

Better than the other version.

I had to return the other audiobook version of Fourth wing because I wanted to strangle the narrator after about 10 minutes and luckily this one became available. Waiting for the other half sucks, but it's a "popcorn for your brain" before bed fantasy listen.

My one pet peeve about this recording is that Graphic Audio really needs to take the sound effects down a notch; they were way to too loud and made the charcters conversations difficult to parse and took away from the feeling of being immersed in the story. Really, there is no reason why footsteps need to be at the same volume as conversations. PLEASE fix that before you record Iron Flame.

Love the performance and fast-paced storyline

I tried the OG version and I had a hard time following the story. So ... I'm glad I got the graphic audio, immersive audio experience. Just bit bummed that the 2nd part is not available yet. like..WHY?

Brought To Life

The production is like stepping inside the book. The voice actor choices are great for the characters. I can see this becoming consistent rotation in my daily listening.

Loved it

I heard about this book and was debating to purchase the audible version but did not care for the narrators voice. Listening the dramatized version was the best decision. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for part 2.

Amazing!

First fantasy read ever and what an experience! Narrators were amazing, the background sounds make it sound just like a movie and you can visualize the scenes. I don’t think I can wait for part 2. I have to keep reading! Worth your money!

Better than Netflix!

Best of both worlds — we thoroughly enjoyed experiencing part 1 of the full book, which was excellent, while also getting a radio theater like dramatization to set the screen before our mind's eye ablaze.

Such a good story, but the slightest cringe

I loved the story line and character development but I can’t get over squirming in my seat from cringe in some of the moments when talking about boys. It’s just a bit much.
