A breakneck race against time…and an implacable enemy.

An anonymous young woman murdered in a run-down hotel, all identifying characteristics dissolved by acid.

A father publicly beheaded in the blistering heat of a Saudi Arabian public square.

A notorious Syrian biotech expert found eyeless in a Damascus junkyard.

Smoldering human remains on a remote mountainside in Afghanistan.

A flawless plot to commit an appalling crime against humanity.

One path links them all, and only one man can make the journey.

Pilgrim.

curse you Terry Hayes...

I'd been warned. I didn't believe the lady on the NYC subway. I should have listened close to the subtle hint. This isten is almost 23 hours long and I couldn't PUT it down! *grumble* *sigh* Well done Terry Hayes.

I re-listened to this to act as moderator for a Goodreads online book club. It is just as good the second time around. Less urgency of course, but just as good.

So good.

Gripping from Chapter 1. Listen in the car. I would drive around my neighborhood on my way home just to finish a chapter.

Wonderful thriller

This is a book I could not put down. It had so many twists and turns. And well developed complex characters. As an avid reader I must say this is in my top ten of all time. Also I will be not only looking forward to the sequel by this author, but will look for any other works performed by the narrator. Get the book!

Terrific, complex, engaging

Recommended by a friend so didn't know what to expect. The layers upon layers style that Terry Hayes produces with his story telling is so enjoyable. I honestly couldn't anticipate where the story was going through the first half or even two thirds of the it, as there were so many threads being laid out. But Hayes brilliantly wove them all together in the end, bringing together every detail, no matter how small, revealed in the earlier exposition. I want to read more about Scott Murdock (if that is, indeed, your real name!), and I want to read more by Terry Hayes!

A grisly murder in a fleabag flat is just the capstone of an apocalyptic race.

One of the all-time greatest novels I’ve ever read. Get out the Xanax, turn on all the lights, and listen to an exciting, lightning-paced story that grabs you, shakes your psyche, destroys all your thoughts that our world is safe, and then just be happy you got to enjoy this magnificently crafted and beautifully written piece of fiction while you still could.

Great story and decent performance...

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The female voices were not done very well and actually detracted from the story.

Thoroughly enjoyed

great story, great detail, well written and well read. I like the fact that it told the story of the protagonist as well as the antagonist but still kept me guessing the whole way through.

Love to see this on the big screen

Great book. It's funny. I was one of those people who took forever to change my ways and abandon print books for an electronic device. Till I realized that I could have an entire library of books in a 1lb tablet. It took me a while to become an audible member and get used to someone reading to me. This is my second audible book and I couldn't believe how much I got done while being able to listen to all 22 hours of this book and let me tell you the story hooks you in so much that I finished this whole book in less than 3 days. I listened while I ran. While I cooked. While I cleaned and even when I was working. There were parts of the book that I felt were kinda drawn out. That maybe didn't need to be there. I would have loved to hear more about the main character and his training and other missions more than the side story of the lesbian couple and the murder. This will make a great movie with the right director and script. As long as they don't put some stupid love interest in it. I loved how the main character was a lone soul who focused on his mission. Touching and edge of your seat book that will keep you engaged till the very beautiful end.

I am Pilgrim

If you could sum up I Am Pilgrim in three words, what would they be?

Could not stop

Which scene was your favorite?

Breaking into his foster parents house.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

If you want to be free all you have to do is let go.

Any additional comments?

Best book I've listened to in 2014.

Excellent story, well written and read!

For a first book, which I understand this is, the author has done an amazing job and I hope he changes his career to author permanently. The story weaves back and forth through seemingly unconnected events which gradually intertwine into a story you won't want to put down; I agonized every time I had to stop listening and couldn't wait to get back to it.

The narrator does an excellent job and the only improvement I think he could make on his read would be to have a greater difference between the accents of some of the gruffer, male characters as I found myself having to concentrate on occasion to determine who was 'speaking' as he went from one character to the next.

The depth the writer provided to his characters and the life given them by the narrator was a great combination and I can't wait for another book, hopefully the second in a series.

Some of the reviews ask which character you'd like to speak with in real life if you could, hands down I would choose an afternoon with the author so I could hear his mind at work.

Well written, Mr. Hayes! Thanks for the great read. : )
