Publisher's summary

A dazzling Audible Original written by Natalie Cooper, performed by Jenna Coleman (Victoria, The Cry)

Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape.

But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

Hired as a consultant at the firm where Iris works as engineering manager, Hunter has a knack for knowing just what to say to irritate her, and Iris can’t help rising to the spark in his eyes each time.

Sent away on a work trip together, Iris is taken out of her comfort zone. As their connection deepens, will Iris finally be able to face the memories that have been haunting her for years? Can her blossoming relationship with Hunter survive some brutal truths?

Only one thing is certain: The spark between them is beyond Iris’s expertise, and there's no running away from it.

Amazing love story

I loved that it was an amazing love story . Of loss, friendship & love , and of course a happy ending. And most importantly , there was not a lot intimate sexual description

This was truly excellent

I read/listen to a lot of romance. This was truly excellent. The writing is clever and fun and as others have mentioned, the banter between them is great. But it has many twists that I never saw coming and issues that added a LOT of depth to this book. Will def check out more by this author.

Good story line

Good story, I enjoyed the female narrator but wished Hunter had a different voice, at times it was hard to follow who was speaking.

Nice twist.

It was a bit redundant and sometimes whiny, but a nice twist at the end. Overall nice romance.

Outstanding

After listening to multitudes of audiobooks over the years, this book came as a fresh relief. The story was incredibly well thought out with a perfect mix of emotion and laughter. It's not just another romcom. It has depth. Highly recommend.

Bittersweet Story

Loved the narration by Jenna Coleman. This story is about second chances for both Iris and Hunter who meet unexpectedly and are sort of enemies to lovers at first.

Through tragedy they learn to reconcile loss and deserve love.

The twists were worth it

What an interesting and surprising story. Iris has such a regimented life & it takes a while to learn why. As the changes in her life make her uncomfortable we learn that she will come to appreciate them.

Heartfelt

This book at times was frustrating to listen to because Iris drove me crazy with her lack of concern for others. She only cared about her tragedy, she didn’t consider that other people may have pain also. She did come around but it took a long time. I loved Hunter’s character, strong, romantic, smart, witty. All in all it was a good story, but Iris’s poor me attitude got old very quickly.
