Publisher's summary

One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Fascinating read

Fascinating read. Gives a great insights in to the thoughts of Marcus Aurelius. I always find it fascinating to read older texts, especially when they show that the thoughts and struggles of man are the same now as they were some 2000 years ago.
The narrator is phenomenal, he really makes the text interesting to hear.

Great book on philosophy

Lots of references to other philosophers and great original thought. Still applicable today, but some points of reference are old school.

Ancient considerations are relevant today

Ancient considerations seem very similar to our modern considerations. The books were interesting from that perspective. They are not written as one story but as a bundle of lessons for fellow Romans.
