Publisher's summary

In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface.

The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought. But something, or someone, must have pushed Maya over the edge.

Fans of Liane Moriarty and Jojo Moyes will be captivated by this riveting family drama with a dark mystery at its core.

Another blockbuster audio book for Lisa Jewell

"The Third Wife" is a look at how life ought to be. it's both impossibly real, in its dialogue, actions and reactions, and really impossible, in its incredibly hopeful ending. I loved it. I am a Lisa Jewell fan. l also loved Joe Jameson's reading. He really gives Helen Duff a run for the money.

Still wondering what made him so special

My thoughts on this story is what a shame it was that it took the loss of a life for Adrian Wolfe to realize what a selfish prick he is. Also how lucky he is that his children didn’t all turn on him, glad that his second wife is making him prove that he his worth taking him back.

Captivating

This book was definitely not what I expected. I found it under suggestions, and I was not disappointed. The story line is magnificent. The characters are riveting. The author wrote melodic and enticing. Definitely will read again!

Disappointing ending

This book had an interesting plot and an amazing narrator. He changed inflections/vocal range with each character but not melodramatically so.
I was disappointed with the ending which always taints the whole experience for me. I thought it was a little pat and without giving anything away-thought there was some reckoning that should have happened that didn't.
I wouldn't call it a waste of time, still gave me some interesting plot lines to think about, I just felt the ending could have been stronger.

A great book

This book combines the hilarious state of chaos in a complex family and tragedy and frailty of a man caught between his love for his children and his battles with normal masculine urges.

Not what I was expecting but still a good story

Joe Jameson was a wonderful narrator! He did a fabulous job of switching voices for each character.

The story started so well and I was hoping for a murder/mystery type of finish, so the back half of the book was a bit of a disappointment, but still enjoyable.

Children's voices ruined narration

I thought this book was not her best. Tedious to get through. No suspense whatsoever. The narrator was fine until it came the the kids' voices. They sounded extremely challenged.

Not my favorite

I’m a huge fan of Jewell, however, this story was very slow at the beginning and the voices for the children were almost intolerable. They were awful - I love her female narrators but this male did an awful job with the different voices.
There were so many characters I finally quit trying to keep track and just listened for the story line. I’m so sorry to be such a downer because as I said I’m a huge fan of Lisa Jewell. I still remain a loyal fan.
