The CMU Police Department is dedicated to serving our community, on campus and beyond. In addition to our ongoing programs and services, our department participates in many local charitable and community service events throughout the year. View our upcoming events or see our recent activities.

Whether it's sporting events, student recognition, informal coffee chats, or annual events like Take Our Children to Work Day or Spring Carnival, we love to interact with our fellow CMU-ers. Contact us to invite us to your next CMU event.

CMU police staff are proud supporters of Special Olympics Pennsylvania through year-round fundraising and awareness events such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge, Summer/Winter Games and on-campus douse-a-dean booths. Special Olympics Pennsylvania provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The police department has supported multiple organizations over the years that help children in our community. Most recently, this included collecting toys for Play it Forward Pittsburgh, to distribute to less-fortunate children during the winter holidays.

Meet Our Community Resource Unit

The department is continually seeking new ways to support and engage with the CMU and surrounding Pittsburgh community. Sergeant Mark Villasenor, Officer Brandon Riddle, and Samuel Muoio lead the department's Community Resource Unit, which spearheads the force's community engagement activities. Send an email or stop by their office in the Tepper Building, second floor, to say hello!
