Abstract
Bereits in der ersten Hälfte der neunziger Jahre begannen die ersten Experimente und Entwicklungen mit dem Ziel Sprachkommunikation über das Internet zu übertragen. Auch wenn die Sprachqualität anfänglich noch sehr mäßig und vor allen Dingen abhängig von der Netzbelastung stark schwankend war, zogen diese ersten Internet-Telefonieanwendungen ihren Reiz im wesentlichen aus der Möglichkeit scheinbar kostenfrei mit Partnern aus aller Welt über das Internet zu kommunizieren. Tatsächlich war diese Kommunikation nicht kostenfrei, sondern sie machte sich nur die weitgehend staatlich geförderte Internet-Infrastruktur zu Nutze. Die Sprachqualität war aber im Allgemeinen so schlecht, daß nur sehr tolerante und Technologie begeisterte Internet-Jünger eine ernsthafte Konkurrenz zum existierenden Telefonnetz entdecken konnten.

Abstract
1 EINFÜHRUNG Internettelefonie beschreibt die Übertragung von Telefongesprächen, Videokonferenzen und Fax über IP-basierte Netze. Dabei werden Sprache, Bilder und Faxseiten in Echtzeit als Datenpakete statt als synchrone Bitströme zu übertragen. Diese Pakete können sowohl durch private IP-basierte Netze als auch durch das öffentliche Internet fließen. Wir unterscheiden drei Arten von Internettelefonie, je nachdem welcher Anteil der Verbindung über das Internet abgewickelt wird. Im „tail-end hop-off“ Betrieb, auch als „PC-to-phone“ bezeichnet, benutzt der Anrufer einen Internet-verbundenen PC um damit einen normalen Telefonanschluss zu erreichen. Dies ist augenblicklich die meistgenutzte Variante, aber es findet sich auch „phone-to-phone“, wo der Anrufer eine örtliche oder 800 Nummer anruft, eine Kennnummer eingibt und dann eine Telefonnummer wählt. Einwahlpunkt und angerufener Teilnehmer kommunizieren dann über IP Pakete. Drittens findet sich „front-end hop-on“ oder „phone-to-PC“, wo der Anrufer wieder ein Telefon benutzt, aber ein IP-vermitteltes Endsystem erreicht. Diese Spielart ist heute selten, wird aber mit der zunehmenden Verbreitung der Internettelefonie an Bedeutung gewinnen.

Abstract
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Im Rahmen von Internet-Telefonie vereinigen sich zwei bisher strikt voneinander getrennte Kommunikationsnetzwerke: das konventionelle, leitungsorientierte Telefonnetz mit zentralem Management und das paketorientierte Internet mit seiner verteilten Architektur. In diesem Beitrag präsentieren wir I 2 N (Intelligent Internet) als eine neuartige Internet-Telefonie-Plattform, in der die jeweiligen positiven Eigenschaften der beiden Systeme vereint sind. I 2 N bietet auf allen Ebenen sämtliche benötigten Funktionalitäten eines Internet-Telefonie-Systems, von einfacher Rufsignalisierung, über den Zugriff auf verteilte Benutzerverzeichnisse und verschiedene Mobilitätsaspekte bis hin zur automatisierten Integration von Mehrwertdiensten. In Kombination mit der integrierten QoS-Architektur AQUARIUS ist I 2 N gut geeignet, auf den Benutzer zugeschnittene Kommunikationsanwendungen mit hochqualitativer Medienbehandlung zu unterstützen. Die Kompatibilität mit bestehenden Standards wird durch eine Reihe von Gateways auf sämtlichen Ebenen erreicht.

Abstract
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG In dieser Arbeit diskutieren wir verschiedene Aspekte der Implementierung von Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Zuerst stellen wir verschiedene Anforderungen an die Architektur einer Implementierung, die zu einem möglichst breiten Einsatz führen soll. Wir beschreiben die OSIP Architektur, die diesen Anforderungen gerecht wird. Anschließend berichten wir über Erfahrung mit unserer Java-basierten OSIP Implementierung.

Abstract
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Neben klassischen Datendiensten sollen Echtzeitdienste im Internet bereitgestellt werden. Insbesondere hat in diesem Zusammenhang die IP-Telefonie in den letzten Jahren an Bedeutung gewonnen. Es fehlt aber immer noch eine geeignete Infrastruktur, um Echtzeitanwendungen die geforderte Dienstgüte garantieren zu können. Der zur Zeit bei der IETF entwickelte Ansatz der Differentiated Services wird in dieser Arbeit bezüglich seiner Eignung für IP-Telefonie untersucht.

Abstract
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Im Rahmen einer umfassenden Security-Policy stellen Firewall-Systeme eine wichtige Maßnahme zum Schutz eines privaten Netzes vor Angriffen aus dem Internet dar. Durch die Einführung neuer Applikationstypen, zu denen auch IP-Telefonie Applikationen gehören, ergeben sich neue Anforderungen denen ein Firewall-System gerecht werden muß. Diesen neuen Anforderungen werden existierende Firewall-Systeme nicht gerecht, weshalb IP-Telefonie Applikationen von Firewalls zur Zeit nicht zufriedenstellend unterstützt werden können. In diesem Beitrag werden wir zeigen, welche speziellen Probleme sich bei der Integration von IP-Telefonie Unterstützung in eine Firewall ergeben. Dazu werden wir ausgewählte, von einer Firewall zu unterstützenden Telefonieszenarien, erläutern, sowie ausgewählte vorhandene Firewall-Lösungen und ihre existierenden Beschränkungen beschreiben. Nachdem die Probleme identifiziert und klassifiziert sind, werden wir die daraus resultierenden Anforderungen, denen eine IP-Telefonie fähige Firewall gerecht werden muß, herleiten. Abschließend werden wir eine mögliche technische Umsetzung dieser Anforderungen, sowie den entsprechenden realisierten Prototypen beschreiben.

Abstract
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG IP-Telefonie, oder Voice over IP (VoIP), ist stark im Wachstum begriffen. Einsatzgebiete für IP-Telefonie finden sich in Intranetzen, auch in „virtual private networks (VPN)“, sowie im Zusammenhang mit neuen Zugangstechnologien, wie Kabelmodems, „digital subscriber loop (xDSL)“ und „wireless local loop (WLL)“. Diese Technologien werden heute hauptsächlich oder ausschliesslich für den Aufbau resp. Zugang zu Datennetzen, wie dem Internet, eingesetzt. VoIP ermöglicht den Diensterbringern (ISPs) die Erschliessung neuer Geschäftsfelder. Unseres Erachtens sind die drei grossen Herausforderungen der IP-Telefonie die Verfügbarkeit von Zusatzdiensten und deren Signalisierung, die Kostenminimierung der Endgeräte und eine hohe Sprachqualität. Ein wichtiger Faktor für den Erfolg der IP-Telefonie ist die einfache Integration mit bestehenden und neuen Applikationen über IP, wie z.B. dem WWW. Trotzdem müssen dieselben Dienste, die der Anwender von ISDN her kennt, weiter unterstützt werden. Hierbei ist zu beachten, dass IP-basierte Netze ein anderes Dienstmodell aufweisen als das klassische Telefonnetz (PSTN). Im Falle von PSTN werden Dienste im Netzwerk erbracht, während das IP-Modell Dienste ausschließlich in den Endgeräten umsetzt. Deshalb sind für VoIP erheblich aufwendigere Endgeräte erforderlich. Um diesen Aufwand zu quantifizieren, vergleichen wir die Kosten eines herkömmlichen digitalen ISDN Terminals mit denen eines IP-Telefons. Dazu untersuchen wir, wie Dienste, die durch das digitale Signalisierungssystem DSS1 erbracht werden, auf IP-Telefonie abgebildet werden können. Wir modellieren diese Abbildung einerseits basierend auf dem „session initiation protocol (SIP)“ und andererseits direkt DSS1 auf IP („ISDN over IP (ISoIP)“) und stellen die beiden Modelle gegenüber. Weiter untersuchten wir die Sprachqualität. Die Sprachqualität ist haupsächlich abhängig von der maximalen Verzögerung durch das Gesamtsystem und dem Muster allfälliger Paketverluste. Dazu haben wir eine Experimentierplattform entwickelt, die hohe Sprachqualität durch synchrones Design im Datenpfad des Endgeräts erreicht. Dabei werden Verzögerungen, die durch mehrfaches Zwischenspeichern entstehen, vollständig vermieden. Die Signalisierungsmethoden wurden so implementiert, dass sie den Einsatz von „differentiated services (DiffServ)“ erlauben. Desweiteren gehört dazu eine Netzzugangskontrolle am Ingress-Router, die es erlaubt, das Netz vor Überlast zu schützen. Allerdings zeigen unsere Untersuchungen im Intranetz, dass der Einsatz von Diffserv auch unter hoher Last unter Umständen nicht zwingend notwendig ist.

Abstract
1 GRUNDANLIEGEN Der Paradigmenwechsel in der modernen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie verlangt einen Wandel der Informationsinfrastrukturen in den Hochschulen. Die heute über das Netz mögliche Kooperation und Arbeitsteilung innerhalb und zwischen den Hochschulen setzen mehr als bisher Absprachen, Empfehlungen und Standards voraus. Arbeitsziel der Deutschen Initiative für Netzwerkinformation (DINI) ist deshalb die Verbesserung der nationalen, soweit möglich auch internationalen Zusammenarbeit aller im Informationsmanagement einer Hochschule beteiligten Partner. Die Weiterentwicklung der lokalen Infrastrukturen an den Hochschulen soll durch Impulse aus den regionalen und überregionalen Erfahrungen gefördert werden. Insbesondere geht es um die Herausarbeitung und Propagierung neuer Formen der Organisation und Kooperation zwischen den Informationsinfrastruktureinrichtungen, den Infrastruktureinrichtungen in den Fachbereichen der einzelnen Hochschulen, sowie zwischen den Hochschulen insgesamt.

Abstract

Eine der vordringlichsten Aufgaben der heutigen Zeit ist auch an den Hochschulen Deutschlands die Organisation des Überganges von der traditionellen papiergebundenen Publikation und Kommunikation zu einem modernen, elektronisch basierten, effektiven Informationsmanagement. Die D eutsche I nitiative für N etzwerk I nformation (DINI) sieht es als ihre zentrale Aufgabe an, angesichts der zunehmend flächendeckenden und in ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit stark ansteigenden Vernetzung den Wandel der Informationsinfrastruktur innerhalb und zwischen den deutschen akademischen Bildungseinrichtungen voranzutreiben. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt legt DINI in diesem Jahr auf die Entwicklung und Förderung von gemeinsamen arbeitsteiligen Lösungen für wissenschaftliche Informationen an Hochschulen. Dazu gilt es, alle Beteiligten, Autoren, Herausgeber, Serviceeinrichtungen wie Bibliotheken, Rechen- und Medienzentren sowie Nutzer zur Mitwirkung zu gewinnen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei der Aufbau von allgemein zugreifbaren, effektiv recherchierbaren, systematisch gepflegten und authentisierten lokalen Hochschularchiven.
