Both of the picture in the listing describe this as being the illustrated version however when I received it it is nothing more than an old library book of the original version which he already owns and I did not need.

This is an incredibly well written and phenomenally illustrated large hardcover book that will last a lifetime. While it is certainly not the book to tote around various places for easy reading due to the size, weight, and cost. It is a PERFECTLY well done book for enjoying directly in front of you. The many details and appointments were clearly very well thought out. Look at the photos below to get a peek at some of the detail and beautiful art. This is a solid work of art all the way around for certain. Pros - Amazingly well appointed and illustrated!... along with the expected great writing of J.K. Rowling. This book is absolutely a book to own for a lifetime. Its solid feel and size rank as an absolute pro for a great display as well as a beautiful book to be read at home Con - The size and detailed appointments are both pros but would be a con if one was looking for a book to carry around "on the go" for reading bits of it at a time. It would not be the kind of book to tote around while traveling, or while at school, etc due to its size and weight.
