These are good quality magazines for an older Remington model 597 22 rifle. I had to do a slight bit of tweaking on the mag catch to make them clip in solidly but that is because of slight variations in the rifle manufacture over the years. I would recommend this factory sealed package of magazines to anyone needing extra mags.

This mag works as it should - for a while. It wears out after a whole lot of shooting and will start to fall out of the mag well. It is better than aftermarket mags I have used, particularly the higher capacity ones. It is "good" value only in so far as it will far outlast the aftermarket junk. The 597 generally works better for me than the 10/22 but the magazine issue always comes up (or down) after 500-1000 rounds. I would pay more for a better rotary design that would last.

My friend’s 597 had 2 older style mags for that required considerable work to restore to functionality. Replacement mags for 597s are no longer manufactured by Remington. These are exactly as advertised: brand new Remington manufactured replacement mags with a slick coating over the metal. They are also function exactly like the older style in that getting that 10th round into the mag is difficult.

The original mag that came with the rifle has a kind of dull silver color body with a black cap. This new ones are all black with an orange feed ramp. The black color looks nice and they seem to be pretty strong and durable. I've only shot maybe 20 rounds out of each mag so far with no issues.

Works well with all ten loaded. However, it IS some sort of metal. Perhaps Aluminum or pot metal. It is very light weight metal. Do not see any way to take apart to clean. Over all would buy again because it is the only available except old used ones that are for sure aluminum.

As usual, I just have to take it apart and polish it up then give it a thin coat of oil. After that sits a while, wipe it off and reassemble. The one that came with my rifle was real dull looking too. A little polishing with a Scotch Brite pad and it looks real shiny and is smooth. A light coating of oil keeps it that way. It makes it slide in the rifle better. This is a Remington made mag. It's well worth the price too. It's exactly what I expected. I knew it would need my TLC just like the one that came with my rifle. It appears to be made from aluminum. They do that. May buy a few more later and say hello to some squirrels.

Hard to get ten bullets in the clip. It looks like plastic. I wanted metal. Hard to find original metal. Tits into weapon OK. Costs too much.

Ten shots is more useful than the 7 or 8 you could get into the original magazines. A lot of the shooting games make a 10 shot magazine important.
