Meta cuts prices

Meta cuts prices

A combination of increasing volume of production coupled with improved technology has enabled Meta Technology to announce a 15 per cent cut in prices for the MTR laser tracking system used on MIG welding robots.

Meta sees this move as an important step in changing the perception of laser seam tracking from a luxury accessory only specified for the most complex and exotic welding to a run-of-the-mill option that is taken for granted as a standard requirement on welding robots.

Mike Wilson, Managing Director at Meta, likes to draw the parallel with electric windows in cars: once considered a luxury, now standard on the majority of cars.

He explained, "A laser tracking system will pay for itself in under 12 months with improved productivity, and quality together with reduced scrap and reworking".

Over the last two years annual sales have doubled and re-doubled, an indication of the wider appreciation of the technology.
