THE GOLD COAST, the background to this year’s REDARC Camper Trailer of the Year event, is a unique region from both a historical and contemporary perspective. What was once a sub-tropical swamp with a sandy oceanic exposure is now Australia’s sixth largest city, developing from almost nothing in the relatively short period of just sixty years.
The Gold Coast is defined as that strip of the coast extending from Southport, 73km by road south-east of Brisbane, as far down as Coolangatta on the NSW border,
