As I locked eyes with one of the regulars across the bar where I had just started working, I felt my cheeks blush.
It was all I could do not to drop the beer I’d just pulled as I set it on the counter, trying to avoid eye contact with the hottie.
It was impossible – I felt drawn to his cheeky grin and kind eyes.
I barely even registered the other details - grey hair, ageing skin...
Finally, he came back over to the bar to order another drink.
‘What’s your name? I’ve been wondering who the pretty new counter girl is,’ he smiled warmly.
‘I’m Stefani,’ I said, unable to control the flirty giggle.
‘Nice to meet you, I’m Don,’ he replied, with a cheeky smile. And the rest was history.
