LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE
The train pulls out of Penn Station NYC right on time at exactly 8.15am, and I feel an excited little butterfly dancing in my stomach. We’re travelling to Montreal from New York on the slow and meandering Amtrak Adirondack train.
We could have flown with Delta Airlines in just under two hours, hired a car for a seven-hour trip (not an option when you see the roads and highways leading in and out of this mega city) or caught a bus – also not an option. Sitting for nine hours confined to a seat when you can’t get up and walk around is akin to flying from Sydney to Bangkok! So here we are on our first train trip together – an 11-hour odyssey that is hailed as one of the most scenic train trips
