Eyes to the Horizon

AFTER HIS MARRIAGE FALLS OVER, BEN DECIDES TO LEAVE HIS COMFORTABLE CORPORATE LIFE BEHIND AND START ON A NEW JOURNEY. HE EMBARKS ON A BOOZE AND DRUG FUELLED VOYAGE OF SELF-DISCOVERY ACROSS MULTIPLE CONTINENTS. CHASING WAVES, WOMEN AND MEETING VARIOUS INTERESTING CHARACTERS ALONG THE WAY. IT IS A STORY ABOUT RELATIONSHIP FAILURE AND NOT REALLY DEALING WITH IT. A STORY ABOUT DRINKING WAY TOO MUCH AND THEN NOT REMEMBERING IT. ABOUT BEHAVING LIKE A WANKER AND THEN REGRETTING IT. ABOUT TRYING TO FIND NEW LOVE AND MAKING A MESS OF IT. A STORY ABOUT FACING YOUR PROBLEMS AFTER TRYING TO AVOID THEM. A STORY ABOUT GROWING UP.

“I chased waves, new experiences and foreign women across multiple continents,” he writes in the intro to his travel memoirs.

While Ben certainly had his fair share of good times it wasn’t all tube-induced highs and exotic hook-ups; there were certainly some moments of stark self-realisation along the way too. After settling down in Bali, Ben decided to write about his adventures in a style that lays himself completely bare. As a result of the candid approach, Ben’s hilarious tales offer both inspiration and warning for anyone who has contemplated throwing it all in and buggering off around the world. The following extract from Ben’s travel memoir, ‘Eyes to the Horizon’ [Available on Amazon Books in hard and digital versions], details his time in Senegal and will certainly make you ponder your approach to dangerous lineups and liaisons.

The Economics Of Stoke
My family adopted a stray cat when I was a kid. We found him emaciated, begging for scraps to eat on our back deck. Within a year, though, he had become obese, with his belly swinging back and forth as he waddled around the house. I remember the vete
