Even when I’m not supposed to be working, I never really switch off from the donkeys. Last year, on New Year's Eve, an email came in from our head of welfare, explaining that the RSPCA had been to evaluate three donkeys found in a muddy Lancashire field. They needed rescuing

It doesn't get any easier to see donkeys in distress, and when I arrived it was heart-wrenching to witness what a sorry state David, Connie and Theo were in.
