A dream man

Vanessa tapped her pen on the magazine. ‘Right. Let’s think about the next question,’ she said in a loud voice. ‘How many times a week do you make love?’

Sarah winced as several people in the crowded pub turned to look in their direction. She took a sip of orange juice and hoped Vanessa didn’t press her for an answer.

It was only a daft magazine quiz – something to pass the time on their lunch break – but Sarah didn’t want to get drawn into a discussion with her workmates about such things.

‘Put seven down,’ Jasmine giggled. ‘That’s once a day.’

‘Good idea,’ Vanessa chortled as she filled in the answer.

She took a bite out of her cheese-and-pickle sandwich and dabbed her lips with a napkin before reading out the next question. ‘Here’s a good one. Are dark-haired men more romantic than fair-haired?’

‘Definitely,’ Jasmine grinned. ‘I went out with a man from Spain once. He was tanned, with dreamy, chocolate-coloured eyes and his body…’
