Plum crazy

It was an ill-wind, and it blew no good. For days, Lush Places was battered and lashed by a nor’wester that, like a grinning playground bully, seemed to enjoy its work.

The lawns were littered with shredded leaves and broken branches. An alder sheltering the apple-tree paddock was found shattered on the ground. Michele’s new season’s dahlias were badly roughed up.
