The Railroad Dog
He rode the rails like a king—traveled in luxurious Pullman cars, dined on the finest steaks, and was pampered and petted. But he was far removed from royalty. He was just an ordinary mutt commonly known as “the Railroad Dog.”
Spot became an unofficial mascot of the old Pennsylvania Railroad quite by accident. He was known up and down the line. “Spot” was hardly an original name, but he was truly unique. As a young boy, I was fortunate enough to know Spot personally.
The short-haired mixed-breed dog took up permanent residence at the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Union
