Overcoming Mental Hurdles

Baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra said it best, “Baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical.” In ultrarunning, we know it takes much more than physical fitness to do well in races. Rooted even deeper than critical components of the sport like nutrition and experience are mental checkpoints and how we use them to our advantage. These mental hurdles scatter from the time you decide you want to take on an ultra distance to the second you succeed (or fail) in completing it.
