INDOOR ISO MILER

The news of Stage 4 coronavirus restrictions in Melbourne hit us hard. Life was getting harder. Part of this lockdown, implemented in early August, was the one-hour outdoors exercise limit. It did not surprise me to hear some runners moaning about it.

But life can get easier with wider perspectives. I thought the one-hour limit was, in a way, a loss of freedom, but it was a minor, almost negligible, loss compared with other losses triggered by the pandemic: loss of lives, loss of close contact, loss of livelihood, loss of mental health.

The ask for us regular folks in Victoria was simply to stay home. Our situation was a lot safer compared to front-liners out there battling the virus every day, putting their lives at risk and struggling to maintain balance in their personal lives.
