Where was Doggerland?
Where there is now the North Sea, for much of the past million years there was dry land: Doggerland. For almost 950,000 years, it was a rich land at the heart of Europe and home to our distant ancestors – early hominids such as Homo antecessor and Neanderthals – and eventually people like us. Today it is one of the largest and most important archaeological sites in the world.
