Godparents can be very special people. Aileen Gilchrist was fascinated by the family of her husband’s godmother Susie Petter, who fled Germany and came to Britain in 1938. Susie was Austrian, which presented a challenge in Aileen’s research. The hard work paid off, and she discovered links to the French resistance and a 1930s radio star.
