he Purerua Peninsula in the Bay of Islands is a coastal paradise. Teal water and white sand edge the verdant patchwork of hills that make up The Landing, a sprawling vineyard, winery and retreat where you might spot a kiwi wandering through the vines. Barack Obama stayed here during his 2018 visit to New Zealand. There’s a nursery for replanting native trees, and Rangihoua Heritage Park next door. It’s a place where history, ecology and culture collide.
