Pedaling My Wares

You might have noticed me if you lived near Hessville Park in Hammond, Ind., in the summer of 1962. I was the kid pedaling one of those backward tricycles with an icebox mounted on the front who sold frozen treats like ice-cream bars, Popsicles and Fudgsicles. If you were at the public pool, you might have seen me parked right outside, waiting with a cold, refreshing cherry Popsicle. If you were playing ball in the park, you might have seen me next to the bleachers, selling Dreamsicles to your girlfriends. Or maybe you hung out by the tennis courts; I was there too.
