Shooting Times has challenged me to attempt a number of different Macnabs over the years. From the classic stag, salmon and grouse to many other less formal versions, I’ve ended up trying a wide variety of different Macnabs, from the madly optimistic to the downright silly.
I must confess that in all this time, I haven’t succeeded in a single one. There have been times when I’ve come close, and with two pieces of the puzzle ‘in the bag’, I’ve fumbled at the final and third chance of success.
There have equally been times when I have failed to achieve even the first step, and my attempt has been abandoned. Perhaps I failed too often, which is why no longer invites me to try these challenges. Fair enough, but I’m enjoying the absence of pressure.
