Making a horror film centred on a child killer requires good judgement if it’s to be done tastefully. The latest team-up by Sinister’s Scott Derrickson and C Robert Cargill pulls it off.
Based on a Joe Hill story, it sees 13-year-old Finney bundled into a van, then imprisoned in a basement containing an unusual source of support: a disconnected phone, via which the killer’s previous victims dispense advice.
